Our baby shower was today and it was truly amazing. 'Amazing' is one of those words that is over-used, but this time I am definitely using it correctly. The room was full of friends and family from all over Texas and Annelise and I were surrounded by love. I had high school friends, college friends, Air Force friends, and tons of family. My great-aunt (who is in her 80s) even dug up the courage to drive from Arlington to Ennis for the shower! That includes driving on I-20 and I-45. So yeah, if you were stuck behind an old lady driving REALLY slowly, that was Aunt Gayle and it was for a very good cause. We got so many of the things that I registered for and quite a few of the things that I didn't expect people to spend the money on. We are so, so blessed!
My favorite gifts are the bathrobe with the tiara sewn on the hood (so when you put it on it looks like you're wearing the tiara, I want one of these for myself!!), the books, the Aggie outfits, and the entire gift from the Kok family. Jessica is so talented and thoughtful, I know we'll treasure those items forever.
Dianna, Melisa, and the girls did a great job of putting everything together. The food was delicious and everyone had a good time. I'm not so fond of the 'guess the baby food' game, but at least they didn't make me play. Annelise is very lucky to have such wonderful friends and family, I guess the good karma I built up is really paying off. Granted, I have plenty of bad karma built up too, but I'm pretty sure that will kick in when Annelise is a teenager.
Carleigh came home with us tonight, Carla's at the New Kids concert. Yes, I'm jealous. Yes, I know I would be exhausted and would want to leave halfway through. Yes, Jon Knight is still my favorite; I think he's even better looking now than when they were together the first time. We had fun playing with Carleigh, my dad is so adorable with her. I can't wait till Annelise is old enough to enjoy her granddaddy.
Ok, time for bed. It's been a long day that started with Annelise throwing a party during Mass and I think she's gearing up for another one right now.
