Hoorn is an old town in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Founded in 716, it became home base for the Dutch East India Company during Holland's "Golden Age". Cape Horn was named after the town by Willem Schouten, who rounded it in 1616 and was a native of Hoorn.
