Xunantunich is located in Belize, the only English speaking country in Central America, near Guatemala border. The core of the city consists of 6 plazas with more than 26 temples and palaces. The best known is the pyramid known as "El Castillo", 130 feet or 40 meters tall.

Tikal was one of the most important and powerful Mayan cities. It is located in what is now northern Guatemala. It's history goes back as far as the 4th century BC, but Tikal reached its apogee during the Classic Period, ca. 200 to 900 AD. At that time it's population was about 90,000 people.
