It's great to have a Monday off, although it's depressing to think that it's the last public holiday before Christmas.

I don't think I suffer from SAD but I'm finding this winter to be interminable.
It's not the cold (or the snow) but the greyness and lack of blue sky and sunshine.

That, compounded with being rather bored and de-motivated at work, means that my head is often lost in the contemplation and planning of holidays.

In the last couple of weeks I've been itching to book a holiday for February/March (as bobalone knows, since we discussed it at length over dinner).
Despite the winter being rather mild in London, what we miss here is the light and the sun.
Winter with its very short days can be a depressing affair, and I find it helps to have something to look forward to.

It's all doom and gloom here in London: Adrian (london1952) will be out of work at the end of the month and British Telecom has announced even more redundancies (totalling 10,000).

In such a climate, it'd probably be sensible to save money and weather the storm... but no, I need something to cheer us up and what's better than planning a holiday?

We are packed, checked-in and ready for our trip to Toronto and Boston/New England in less than 12 hours.

According to the weather man on the BBC, we have only had half the normal hours of sunshine this August. And I believe that: just in the last 3 days I have been looking out at a very grey and gloomy London from my office window.

Sometimes, I find it difficult to stay positive when the weather is so dull.

Finally, 2 weeks after getting home from our holiday, I'm posting about the last day.

The pictures are not too good as the dust accumulated on the sensor meant that they had more spots than your average teenager. Oh well!
