Ljubljana - Day 4

Apr 28, 2010 00:16

We left our B&B just before 11 and said goodbye to the old town

before walking to the railway station to leave our bags in a locker for a few hours.

We spent the rest of the day in the 'new' town (on the right bank of the Ljubljanica river), admiring some of the Art Nouveau architecture.

I was shouted at from across the street when I took a couple of pictures of what I presume is the American embassy.
What can I say? If you don't want it to be photographed, put the embassy in an ugly building, underground in a bunker or cover it with a gigantic tea-cosy.

It is not one of the best pictures of the day but hey, I'm going to put in on here just because!

We then relaxed in the huge Tivoli Park (but we explored only a tiny part of it)

It was hot and sunny, in fact a bit too hot.
My sun-burnt head was already in London - on the last day of any holiday I normally just want to get home!

We walked around town for another few hours and even went to see what's left of the old Roman wall

(the pyramid shows how tall the original wall was).

After a huge pizza, then another stroll, then another tea we went back to the station, collected our bags and got on the bus to the airport.

The weather changed as we were approaching the airport and by the time we took off, it was raining heavily.

We got home after train+tube+train at about 22:15. Quite tired but with lovely memories of Slovenia!
