The eyebrow remained arched as Arthur took in the more sullen than usual jack of all errands. Zhi was a right pain of the arse normally, but he was more inclined to retaliation than outright crabbiness when Arthur (or anyone else on the ship for that matter) committed some affront to his person.

“My ship,” Arthur replied simply. And that’s all he needed to say, really. It didn’t matter if it a command or a request (a polite command, really) made in jest or in sincere plaintiveness, this was his ship and he wouldn’t bend to anyone’s will but his own. But he hadn’t the time to rehash this argument again; there were certain pending matters that would shortly need his attention. He could just be on his way now, but leaving the boy in this state of mind was practically begging for something unfortunate to happen while he was gone.

“Now, will you inform me why you have the same expression that first night I brought you aboard this ship and get this over with, or will I have you drag it out of you in a method that will certainly be painful for us both?”

"No."

Zhi's eyes remained stubbornly fixed on the clouds, not bothering to even glance at his captain as he gave his curtly ambiguous reply. In all truth, he was actually surprised he had managed to avoid being thrown off the ship for so long, despite all his disrespect and distinct lack of manners.

...unfortunately for Arthur and the rest of his crew, all it had managed to do was encourage Zhi into further pushing his luck, and now what he was doing was simply waiting for Arthur to grow bored of nagging and leave him alone. Then, he'd be free, not for the first time, to experiment how well the wood of the ship reacted to handmade explosives.

Arthur knew that smirk hiding in the corners of Zhi’s mouth for what it was. “I’m not going to walk away and let you attempt to blow up my bloody ship,” he stared wryly with a touch of warning. So far nothing too dreadful had happened as a result of this dangerous habit - in fact it was a bit amusing how upset Dewi got when Arthur showed him what his newest crewmate did to his precious cannons last time. But Arthur would be foolish as to give the youth free reign.

“So, start talking or you will find yourself with a nanny to watch over you.” ...Now that he thought about it, that might actually not be a bad idea.

Zhi rolled his eyes as his captain continued talking. Even if he had seen through his secret plan, no matter, he'd do it anyway. He was determined to get himself thrown off the ship- hopefully when it was docked, of course, and causing damage to its structure and and the patience of its captain seemed to be the best way to go about it.

At the threat, he raised his head to give Arthur a long, exasperated stare, one that said where on Earth do you think you'll find a nanny on a pirate ship. "No," he repeated simply, and with that he looked back to the clouds once more.
