Said person, for the record, felt neither guilt nor crushing responsibility for instilling what he chalked up as typical moodiness found in all youths on the cusp of adulthood. Slippery muppet had yet to tell him his age, but it was apparent enough in his explicit disregard of orders, even when said orders were reasonable by anyone’s standards, that he was at that ageSo, while Arthur certainly could sympathise with having to live through such a wretched age, it was with what Zhi would characterise as a shameless lack of remorse that he casually ambled over to him - only just stopping himself from patting the boy on the head. He didn’t want to patronise the lad too much. As entertaining as it was, it would surely come back to bite him in the arse with some inconveniently placed blasting powder ( ... )

Zhi practically jumped straight into the air at the sudden voice, too absorbed in his thoughts of what a total complete utter wanker his captain was and how much he'd like to set fire to those damn hairy caterpillars seated above his stupid bulging eyes and then help the blaze spread to the entirety of his ugly flying ship and that was where he got up to before his brooding was so rudely interrupted ( ... )

The eyebrow remained arched as Arthur took in the more sullen than usual jack of all errands. Zhi was a right pain of the arse normally, but he was more inclined to retaliation than outright crabbiness when Arthur (or anyone else on the ship for that matter) committed some affront to his person.

“My ship,” Arthur replied simply. And that’s all he needed to say, really. It didn’t matter if it a command or a request (a polite command, really) made in jest or in sincere plaintiveness, this was his ship and he wouldn’t bend to anyone’s will but his own. But he hadn’t the time to rehash this argument again; there were certain pending matters that would shortly need his attention. He could just be on his way now, but leaving the boy in this state of mind was practically begging for something unfortunate to happen while he was gone ( ... )

"No."

Zhi's eyes remained stubbornly fixed on the clouds, not bothering to even glance at his captain as he gave his curtly ambiguous reply. In all truth, he was actually surprised he had managed to avoid being thrown off the ship for so long, despite all his disrespect and distinct lack of manners.

...unfortunately for Arthur and the rest of his crew, all it had managed to do was encourage Zhi into further pushing his luck, and now what he was doing was simply waiting for Arthur to grow bored of nagging and leave him alone. Then, he'd be free, not for the first time, to experiment how well the wood of the ship reacted to handmade explosives.
