WHO: Linh and Francis~
WHEN: Tuesday, March 29th Evening
WHERE: Over Zee Phone :U
WHAT: One poor international student needs a room to stay in, Francis needs to stop being a lonely angst-bucket.
It had all started one day when Gilbert was out. The Prussian seemed to always be out or busy since he had started on that fashion label of his. But all of it really just boiled down to Francis becoming more and more lonely. Louis, Jeanetta, and even Lyn were wonderful at making trouble, they did in fact keep him very busy from knocking down potted plants to attempting to get into clean laundry- but well. They weren't human contact. And if there was one thing that Francis thrived on, it was human contact.
So one day, on a whim, he had posted an ad for a room on a site he'd found- Kijiji. And now he could only hope that someone would respond.

Linh:
[dials the number, waits for someone to pick up the phone.] ... A-lo? I mean, um, hello?
Francis:
[rushes over and snatches the phone up, half covered in cake mix] Salut-! Desole- ahh ha, I mean hello to you as well. Francis speaking~
Linh:
Aaah... [unsure if she should be speaking French, but follows the prompt of English] I am responding to your ad online? About roommate...? And free board.
Francis:
[immediately perks up] Ohhh, oui oui! Ze ad for an international student? Of course, where are you coming from ma cherie?
Linh:
[small squeak; she wasn't expecting this much enthusiasm!] I am from Vietnam...
Francis:
Ahhh. Vietnam, I had hoped I would get a student from there! I- pseudo-tutored there for a few years. What are you looking to study in America?
Linh:
Computer science, m...maybe a little Chinese. For do business, nha. America has very good program for computer science! So I am very excite to be studying there!!
Francis:
[smiles at the excitement] Computer science... Zat sounds like a wonderful major, personally I cannot even operate my phone at times. Oh! I 'ave been so rude! What may I call you cherie?
Linh:
Oh! I should have said names sooner! My name is My Linh. But if... it too long, then Linh is okay too.
Francis:
Linh... that is a very pretty name. Now I am not... very familiar with your customs, mais- Let me clear up a few things. You are sure you are alright with staying with two men? You will 'ave your own room of course, and even your own bathroom, I just want to make sure you are not uncomfortable here.
Linh:
[long silence.] ...... There is lock on door, yes?
Francis:
[weak smile] Oui. There is a lock, you would not 'ave to worry about us intruding on your room.
Linh:
[quiet, nervous laugh.] Then it is okay ah. I am not very familiar with how American view privacy, and I... I think I will be okay with idea of living with two men. I will be at school for most day, and there will be other thing to be doing during the day than stay at home anyway!
--But! On ad it say that there is no rent? Is that... mistake?
Francis:
[quiet chuckle in return] It is no mistake, but Linh, cherie. I want to make sure you are comfortable with this arrangement. I know coming to another country- especially one like America -in itself is... somewhat terrifying. That is why I am making this offer, to hopefully make your transition here a bit easier.
Linh:
I... [nervous humming], it will be okay! You say I have my own room and bathroom, yes? So privacy and keeping my honour is not too big of concern of mine! I can--it... yes, yes. I can make comfortable.
Francis:
I am very glad! Now- that we 'ave decided zat... There are still a few things I need to make sure you are the right student for this. How do you enjoy school?
Linh:
I really enjoy school! I think I work very hard to get where I am right now, and I really want to do good for myself ah.
Francis:
Tres bien... Ah- would you... 'appen to speak any French?
Linh:
Oui. [clears her throat.] j'ai etudie le francais a l'ecole primaire... jusqu'a la 8e annee. (i have studied french in elementary school... until grade eight.)
Francis:
C'est merveilleux! Même tu accentuation es magnifique! Ce sera une joie à vous accueillir chez nous! (How wonderful! Even your accent is fantastic! It will be a joy to have you stay with us!) [the joy in his voice is very clear]
Linh:
Oh! Merci! J'ai travaillé très dur sur l'obtention d'accent parisien correct! (Thank-you! I worked very hard on getting the Parisian accent right!)
Francis:
[clears throat and laughs sheepishly, rubbing his cheek] Ah- bon. D'accord. We shall 'ave to chat sometimes in French hmm? Perhaps you can even teach me a bit more Vietnamese. But for now I think we should focus on your move into your new room~
Linh:
[nods appreciatively, before remembering--right, this is phone call; head nods do not translate.] Yes! I am... currently still in Vietnam right now because I am not starting class until two weeks from now, but I am hoping to be able to move in maybe a couple day from now? Because that is when I will be arriving in Liberty, ah...
I will not be bringing too much with me because I do not want too much crowding of your apartment! I--... I cannot say how much I really appreciate you offering a room for me. I really will be just bringing clothes and material for school. And maybe buy futon when I am getting there.
Francis:
Oh cherie! There is already a bed in ze room, you will not 'ave to worry about buying a futon~ And we 'ave plenty of space. Shall we pick you up from ze airport?
Linh:
[her silence is a sign of her (really excited and joyful) disbelief.] ... Y-yes, if it... is not too inconveniencing! I would appreciate very much!
Francis:
Ahhh- I am so excited! I am sure we will both 'ave a wonderful time and I can only hope you will do absolutely wonderfully here in America! I will make sure to make a sign for you- ah, when exactly does your flight come in? I would not want to make you wait around in the cold! [a wide smile and quiet laugh] This is all happening so fast~!
Linh:
Oh--I forget that America is cold this time of year. Here, it is very warm--ahh--[rustle of papers as she double-checks her flight times]--well, it say here that my flight will arrive around 9AM. 8:55AM.
Francis:
Oui, oui! it is starting to warm up but please bundle up on ze flight! We would not want you catching a cold. I will make sure to be there when you get off of your flight then! This is my cell phone number so you may reach me at this if you cannot fight ze tall blond man waving a sign with your name on it, d'accord?
Linh:
D'accord! Merci beaucoup--... for everything! I cannot say how much I appreciate your kind offer!
Francis:
Of course. It was a pleasure speaking to you and I cannot wait to meet you in person! I will see you very soon~ I wish you luck with packing and a safe flight!
Linh:
Merci, merci. I am looking forward to meeting as well! [awkwardly waits to see who will hang up first.]
Francis:
Au revoir ma cherie~ [hangs up and quickly hurries back to the kitchen only to discover one of his kittens had successfully knocked over his mixing bowl; perhaps he would just have to wait for Linh to move in and then bake a cake...]
