There was only the sharp 'click-clack' of her heels meeting the pavement of the otherwise empty sidewalk as Veronika casually made her way toward the sparsely inhabited coffee shoppe.
She was early, about five minutes if she bothered to check the time. Veronika had found herself restless inside her home and could not bother herself with waiting another ten minutes before leaving to arrive exactly on time. But it was better to get somewhere early than late, Veronika mused absently as she adjusted her purse strap. Her hands carefully tugged her blazer closer to her, eyes glancing at the window of the cafe, trying to see if perhaps her companion was already inside.
Seeing nothing similar to the description he had given her, Veronika pushed her way inside, briefly relaxing under the embrace of the instant warmth that enveloped her bod upon stepping in.
Flashing the baristas and cashier what may have appeared to be a coy smile, Veronika ordered herself a drink and something to nibble on before carefully moving toward an empty table near the back.
