Yup, you read that right. STANLEY CUP CHAMPS, BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know this entry is painfully late, but it's just been such a crazy weekend, I haven't really digested the game yet.
Yeah, I'm still a Pens newbie. Yeah, I've only been following the Pens after Chris Kunitz was traded to the Pens a week or so before the trade deadline, but fuck, has this team grown on me or what?! Man!!
I wish I could have seen the parade. We only had 10,000 people show up when the Ducks won it all back in 2007. Pathetic. At least I was there, though..
So congrats to Sid, Geno, Flower, Talbot, Kennedy, Satan, Bylsma, Guerin and everyone from the front office to the equipment managers. What a glorious season this turned out to be, when everyone had the Wings inked as repeat Stanley Cup champs and Hall of Fame writers like Helene Elliott of the LA Times called the Penguins nothing but crybabies.
Oh, and Marion Hossa? Karma's a bitch, ain't she?
Anyway, it goes without saying that the 2009 AX Red and Black award goes to Bobby Ryan, hands down. He probably doesn't think that what he did was a huge deal, but for me, as a disillusioned former Kings fan, reaching out to his fans was just a reflection of who he really is. I will never forget what he did and I will always appreciate it. Thanks again, B Rye. This wasn't your year, but you were fantastic. Good luck at the NHL Awards on Thursday.
So yup, I guess I'll go fangirl a little longer... And maybe treat myself to some Pens merchandise, once and for all. And maybe a Soul Eater 99 home Penguins jersey? Are? Muhaha!!!
I still find it hilarious that I live near LA and couldn't give a crap that the Lakers just won their 15th NBA title. Whoopdeefreakindo.
