Some of you might notice this is pretty much the same post I made two years ago. ;)
Voyeuristic Intentions, The Rocky Horror Picture Show shadowcast at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, could use some more willing and eager bodies for our show on Saturday, October 27!
As many of you know, VI has meant a lot to me over the years. I was involved from near the beginning and wound up becoming assistant director and then director and Frank-n-Furter for several years in the mid-Naughts. Being in the show year after year is a major factor that let me believe I could overcome shyness and act on stage and do theatre which lead me to founding The Confused Greenies.
We've just started rehearsing this year and Matt Garvey, the current director since 2009, is still looking for interested warm bodies. We could definitely use some people to play the Transylvanians (aka Trannies), the extras for the dance numbers, crowd scenes, call-backs, and some general stage hand support. There's also the pure tech ninja side and people who are dedicated audience plants. The performance is only one night (Saturday, October 27) on the CWRU campus as part of
Film Society. There are, of course, rehearsals, currently scheduled for 1:00 to 4:00pm on Sundays. However, we've often had people (especially for Trannies) join us for the all-day rehearsal on the Saturday of the show. It is possible to learn enough of what you need just that day but it's good to rehearse with the troupe earlier if possible (and local). Those further away (such as Akron, Youngstown, Columbus, out of state) should join us on that day of the show - but let us know in advance!
It's a lot of fun and I helped build this into a huge spectacle of a circus. I'd love to see Trannies all the way across the stage for "The Time Warp" again. Because we only do the show once a year and the CWRU student body is full of shy geeks our De-Virginization Games are amazing - and the primary draw for some of our audience. This is a chance to help out a great production in need - and spend a wild debauchrous night in Cleveland! ;)
Also, as usual there's a chance that The Confused Greenies might be
up to short something too and we could use some cast to help! It's also something that can be rehearsed just that day if you can't otherwise make it into town earlier. We've also been debating finally breaking ground on a new troupe in Patchwork Players called Sock It To Me Puppet Theatre with The Socky Horror Puppet Show. While Arlecchino Lends a Hand at the Rocky Horror Picture Show is about 15 minutes and built to be staged before a live shadowcast (and good advertisement), Socky Horror is probably a longer piece and would need to find space to perform it at.
Feel free to spread this around to any of your friends who might be interested!
