I've been getting out and about with my camera lately, coming out of the winter duldrums. I got my first paying photography gig yesterday. Another photographer couldn't make it for an event so I was called in at the last minute. The event was Ginger Jones' Mystery Box Variety Show, a benefit for BRAVO (Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Organization). It was an awesome time with all sorts of entertainment. I experimented with extreme closeup macro photography. I used a technique called reverse lens where you remove your lens, flip it around and hold it in place against your camera. It was challenging because the only way to focus is to move the camera closer or further away from the subject. The depth of field of only a centimeter was a challenge to ( Read more... )

Just got back from shooting Trauma, the annual Halloween/Fetish ball here in town. It was a blast! BoMA is a huge venue with plenty of space for all the freaks (of which I count myself as a member). There were so many interesting and friendly people doing all sorts of things I can only begin to describe.

I had never been to the biggest local fall festival: the Circleville Pumpkin Show. The traffic was dumb, for lack of a better word. It's as if the city didn't realize they were expecting thousands of vehicles so they never set up any inbound traffic control. The festival itself was fun. There was a parade, music, rides, food and lots of pumpkins.

I found out yesterday that Obama was going to be in town for a public rally today. Without much to do at work, I called off and headed downtown to shoot some photos.
