It's done and done. My red sparkly sweater that I plan to wear on Christmas Day.
You may remember that I made a short-sleeved
orchid top in late spring / early summer. The red top is basically the same pattern with a few changes here and there. Visually, the big difference is the long sleeves and the neckline / collar. (There are a few technical changes as well. But those are boring crochet stuff.)
When I put on the completed top so that hubby could take these pictures, he said the top was more "elaborate" than he expected. Later, he couldn't say why he chose the word "elaborate". He did say that "elaborate" was a good thing though.
I don't really like how the neckline for the orchid top sits on me. It's too close to my trach tube and bothers me a little. So I chose a different neckline style this time. I planned to leave the neckline open farther down. But then modesty struck and I decided to seam it up a little ways. My bra really isn't really something I want to show off.
The yarn for the neckline is different than the main sweater. I hope you can see the sparkly in the neckline. The yarn has a metallic red thread running through it that catches the light and glitters. I'll be honest. It doesn't show up as well as I would like. But it's still noticeable in person.
By the calendar, I spent nearly two full months working on this because I started on October 7 and just finished yesterday (November 28). But in reality, I didn't spend all that time on it. I stopped partway for crochet ghosties, Halloween activities, convention activities, Thanksgiving activities, medical procedures, etc. I took 32.6 hours over 21 days to finish it.
