In other news, I started the application process for the MA program in Writing at Depaul University today (though I still may want to do Philosophy.  Hmm...).  Depaul's a great school, it offers evening schedules and a convenient location, and the program looks interesting and diverse in its areas of concentration.  I'm excited.

I just saw my first grade teacher give a speech at the high school in my new town.  He is noted children's book author Jim Aylesworth - one of my first inspirations towards a career in writing - and he was there to talk about reading, his books, and his work as a teacher and an author.  His style of presentation was entertaining and engaging for ( Read more... )

Thanks in no small part to encouragement from a friend, I have finally registered for the GRE, which I will take January 9th.  I've ordered the Kaplan book + CD-ROM for study purposes, as well, so I should have a solid month to cram for it.  I'll have to fit that in around parenting, working, and the whole holiday thing.  Yipee ( Read more... )
