I just saw my first grade teacher give a speech at the high school in my new town. He is noted children's book author
Jim Aylesworth - one of my first inspirations towards a career in writing - and he was there to talk about reading, his books, and his work as a teacher and an author. His style of presentation was entertaining and engaging for the kids and adults alike, and brought back several good memories of my earliest school days. Ah, good ol' 1984.
And how shocked was I when he called me to the front and had me read my name off the shirt of one of the
mischievous monkeys in his latest book! He claims it's just a coincidence, that the monkey drawing on the wall wasn't based on me. Really? Hmmm......
