Summer-time!

Went to a house-warming last weekend that unexpectedly turned out to also be a wedding. (If you're reading this, nome - nice trick!) It was very sweet and low-key. Fortunately Alex had his camera with him (but not, as he bemoaned several times, his flash).

I made my signature mixed-berry two-layer pavlova for it. I am pretty much a one-trick pony at potlucks, but that's okay because it's a very tasty trick.

The best thing about summer here is the cheap berries. We actually had too many blueberries, so for the last week I've been having french toast (made with leftover egg-whites*) with maple syrup and blueberries for breakfast, and spinach salad with trail mix, blueberries and raspberry vinaigrette for lunch.

I may have to buy some more blueberries on the weekend, if they're still cheap...

*Yes, I used egg-whites from a carton. Cough. At least they were free-range.
