Rain, be gone!
Dalia and I both have 9:35 a.m. classes on Tuesday/Thursday, so we ride the bus together and chat while we wake up. On Thursday, right as we got off the bus the heavens opened and it started pouring. I mean, cats, dogs, bats, frogs, horses... you name it, it was falling from the sky. Thankfully both of us had umbrellas, but that did hardly any good. By the time we made to the Little Express to get Starbucks, we were soaked from our waists down. There was literally a river running down the road... at 9:30 in the morning. When does it ever rain in the mornings in Florida during the summer?
So then today, Dalia and I get off the bus and it starts raining AGAIN. This time it's misty rain, as if it were a cold front. I had my umbrella again and didn't get soaked by any means, but really, what are the odds? I think it's our evil forces combining at such an early hour ;) Or maybe it rains every morning and I'm just never awake to witness it... Hmmm.
It's greek to me
Anyway, I was one of five people in my ASL 2 class to get a 100 on the first test. Woot! They're preparing us for the SCPI, which is basically the test to see how proficient you are with ASL. Sometime this semester, each of us have to set up an appointment with our professor and he's going to ask us questions in ASL and we basically just have to have a conversation with him for 30 minutes. It's a lot tougher than it sounds. So now each class we get a new partner, they give us a prompt and we have to have a conversation in ASL. I'm improving TONS through this already, but man it's really hard to come up with things to say. I'm nervous!
Down time
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have about an hour and a half inbetween ASL and Archaeology, so I've started hanging out in the University Auditorium again. I used to do this a few semesters ago, and it's one of my favorite places on campus. I go to the second floor, lay down on one of the padded benches and listen to my iPod, doodle, write stories, do the crosswords puzzle, all while getting a free concert of some sort (it's been the organ lately, which makes me think there might be an organ class?). I'm enjoying the organ though, I hope that's consistent. Once it cools off again, I'll probably start sitting outside under a tree somewhere, but for now, that's my place.
Package!
Sarah sent me a package! Without telling me! Sneaky, sneaky! She sent me her Summer Mix CD, which is very, very Sarah and I enjoyed it greatly. She didn't send a songlist with it though, so it's a bit of a mystery. I could pick out Beck (which was our song anyway), Iron and Wine and Joni Mitchell. So now I have the project of sending her MY Summer Mix, even though it's on a completely different musical palate than hers. Oh well, that's what makes it fun. Yay for surprises!
