The Arcadia Chili's restaurant opened today.
Rumor has it that Applebee's, Outback and Red Lobster might be coming too. As well as something about a mall (??) and that rumor about the Six Flags/waterpark that started back when I was in high school is still circulating as well.
Apparently the land has already been purchased for the theme parks though? I don't know if I believe that. It just seems like the most retarded place to build a Six Flags ever. I mean, I know at one point way back in the day Arcadia was bigger than Orlando, but... wtf? I have to think this is just a local urban legend.
I really hope that none of this is true, actually. As much as it would be nice not to have to drive 30 minutes to go have dinner, or go shopping, it won't be Arcadia if all of these chains start taking over the town. As much as I complained about Arcadia sucking as a teenager, it has a lovely charm after living in Gainesville and getting really tired of traffic and sooooo many businesses everywhere.
I'm kind of bummed... I really hope these just stay as rumors.
