Last two weeks have been overwhelming, and it only seems to get worse...
Done with exams til the week before spring break, which will be quite stressful in itself since it's only two weeks away! Should be getting grades on accounting this afternoon and on consumer behavior tomorrow.
Last weekend was a joke in itself, but at least I got called from both jobs - off for both saturday and sunday! First FULL weekend off since... december, if not august. Yeah, crazy.
As some, all, or none of you know, I retired my lumina about a month ago. Just not running like it used to, and with the weather, I became not as confident in the brakes. At that point my dad found someone that would be willing to buy it and fix it up in mid-march for his son, who is a car guy so he knows what he's doing.
Recently the buick had to go in to get the water pump fixed or something. Thankfully I still had the lumina sitting around. After putting $281 into the buick, we were able to pick it up saturday afternoon. And because of the blizzard, I didn't have the opportunity to drive it until monday morning on my commute to campus.
However, on the drive to campus the brakes were not as touchy as they used to be, and this was the car that when you put your foot on the brake slightly you could feel the pressure... I realized I had to completely have the petal to the floor to be able to make the car slow down, and stopping had to occur MUCH earlier than usually needed. God knows I did NOT need to get in an accident on the way to my exam. After calling my mom and having her then call the mechanic and dad... this car could not stay on campus with me. They came to exchange the buick for the lumina in the afternoon. On the drive back the only way they could have it stop completely was by putting the car into park. Weird to think... if I had driven home last night in the buick via freeway, I might not have made it home without some bumps and bruises... :/
Yes, this = bad.
After them keeping it over night to examine the car further - they realized the brakes were completely corroded and it would be WAY too many labor hours to put new ones in... so thankfully we kept the lumina, but to keep our promise, I won't have it for too much longer.
All morning my mom and I have been looking at used car sites and whatnot, AND I MAY HAVE FOUND ONE!!! A 2004 Honda Civic LX. It's a little pricy to what we were aiming for (since we were looking for short term), but it'll last me much longer than the other used car we were looking at since the milage is relatively low, mpg is AMAZING, and it's BLUE! I think it'd definitely pay off in the long run to get this car. eek. My mom contacted wilde honda and put an offer on it... so now I just wait... impatiently.
to be continued...
