It's been a long week, but at least I have one class left til the weekend... followed by work everyday. 4 hour shift tomorrow, 5 hour shift friday, 3 hour shift saturday, and another 10 hour one sunday.
Soooo today was the Paris Meeting for the summer two week study abroad program. Tad overwhelming, since we were informed that you need to be registered for at least 6 credits for the summer to get any financial aid whatsoever for it. BAH! Study abroad is only 3 credits... so after much looking, I've decided to take another required 3 credit course that I'd have to take anyways for the last 6 weeks of summer - Production and Operations Management, which is tentatively Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00~4:20 from July 9th through August 18th. I don't know how I can afford this... but at least going abroad and taking that class will allow me to use financial aid, the wisconsin study abroad grant, and potentially scholarships that I can apply for. Emailed one of the contact people listed on the site tonight regarding the application process/deadlines for some of the business scholarships listed... so hopefully he'll help somewhat. I still really want to go to Barcelona after the program, but now it seems very unlikely. Unless I find a couple people that wanna travel with me once we get accepted into the program...
One good thing to taking the class the last half of summer is that we'll plan on our roadtrip to New York/New Jersey between the time I'd get back from Paris and start the class. Perhaps mid-june? That would be cool. Yay semi-cheap roadtrip since there won't be any rooming costs whatsoever. Yay for traveling to stay with family friends!
There's been an overwhelming amount of fighting in the house again and I'm sick of it. Part of the (almost the whole) reason my mom is letting go of the Paris idea for her 50th bday present is because of the divorce around the corner. If tonight wasn't a prime environmental reason to initiate it, I don't know what is.
Applied for that GE healthcare internship last Friday. Wrote my essay last night and finished applying for that scholarship today. Good to be on top of important things I guess.
Oh yeah, and when I received my paystub from Aveda from my paycheck I noticed a little problem (who would've thought). Marlo said that I would be getting my raise that I requested if I would come back. I'm back until May. Did I get my raise after referencing my paystub?... nope. And it only took her almost two days to respond, saying that she'd talk to HR about it so it gets adjusted (except that this week has already been processed...). But oh this is the kicker... she said that they probably wouldn't retro the hours from when I was supposed to be paid at the higher rate. What a frickin joke.
Monday I was supposed to have access to preorder keith tickets. But what happened? At a minute to 10:00 I refreshed the ticketmaster page a few times and they then put a block so that I couldn't access the site via my laptop for 24 hours... which means I am forced to load the ever-so-sluggish home computer. After 10 minutes waiting for that to load, and after searching for 20 minutes or so, the tickets that are available suck and aren't worth it. What do they do after I look for 20 minutes-ish? Oh yes, put up the same block on that computer. No longer having access to ticketmaster from home for 24 hours. Frickin joke. There's another separate presale that my mom got for Friday. If those suck too I'm just going to buy them Saturday morning. My ideal sections - anything in 215 or 216. Not even asking for floor seats or front row. But anyways, I was going to buy 4 of them - $52 each plus whatever bradley center fees. I don't know who will be able to go with me until July 26th draws closer, since obviously, the concert is still more than a few months off. I might change my mind by the time I buy them - that is, buying less than 4 instead of 4. Expensive kinda.
Based on my crappy financial situation, the keith tickets are the only fun thing I'm going to allow myself to buy for at least a month or so. Oh yes, and whatever I get at VS that my gift cards don't cover, which may just be $5-10.
Life should be on the upswing sooner than later. That would be good. Too bad February looks like a killer month for classes... bah. At least it's the shortest month of the year.
And I leave you with an inspiring image...
