Change your LJ password!
I have seen pretty good evidence that a bad actor has all the logins and password details from LiveJournal, including old, deactivated passwords and including accounts that have been deleted.
Change your LJ password now.If you use that password anywhere else, change it there too. A really nasty blackmail spammer has it, and I find it credible ( Read more... ) -
Leaving LJ
As most of you know, about a month ago LJ suddenly changed its terms of service, in a really nasty way, with no warning and forcing people to accept the new terms in order to interact with the site at all. I confess I was not too bothered at first.

Please be aware that this blog is hosted by LiveJournal. The hosting company may display adverts within my journal. I have no choice in this matter; I've paid LiveJournal money not to display adverts, but they have revised the deal they offer so that they have the right to do so anyway. Getting journal-style friends pages back
Does anyone have a definitive answer to the problem of /friends automatically redirecting to /feed, which means you see your friends page in the site default style instead of the style that matches your journal appearance ( Read more... ) -
PSA re comment notifications
Heads-up, people: LJ has managed to get itself on the Spamhaus blacklist by repeatedly failing to deal with the onslaught of (mostly Russian-originating) pharma spam. This is the reason why LJ's comment notifications are currently unreliable or completely absent. This is my thousandth LJ post. I've been here for just over five years, and I've learnt all kinds of things and made real friends and even found partners. Sleep is for the week (eek)
Between now and Monday night I have to:- go to morning minyan in a few minutes (which is why I'm up so few hours after getting to bed last night), in order to find people for this evening
- go to work, finish writing my presentation ie make up a week's work in a day

I have the best problem in the world
Too many friends. I owe 25 urgent emails, and I'm not even starting to count the ones I should write to keep in touch with people I care about, but there isn't a reason they need to be sent this week (if not last).
