Yesterday was amazingly busy! I don't think I've run around that much in one day in months! My day started with crew practice, which ended up being an inauguration breakfast and meeting instead of practice. Heck yeah! Nice and relaxing. I wish we could do that more often. After "practice" I came home, took a shower, then was off to the doctor to see what was up with my ankle. He initially told me it was shin splints, which I had already guessed at, so I thought I was going to get off easy. But then the nurse mentioned that I wrap my ankle every morning before practice, so Dr. Patel decided to have a look at it. He noticed that I had little range of motion in the heel area, and he thought it was inflammation, so he prepared some sort of an injection to remove that inflammation in the canal around my heel. I hate needles and shots with a passion, so Kathy Lee came in to basically hold my hand. (She works there). They told me to expect a lot of pressure, but it was a lot more painful than I thought it would be. Dr. Patel only got through three-quarters of the shot before he took it out and wanted to look at my x-rays again. And it appears that a bone in my heel and one in my lower ankle have fused together where a natural canal should be. Which is why the shot was so painful; he couldn't find the canal to insert it. So that of course changed my diagnosis. I still kept the shin splints, but I also got a temporary ankle brace which I have to wear all the time, I got fitted for orthopedic insoles for my shoes, and I go back on Tuesday to get fitted for a permanent brace. Fun day at the doctor. Thank God Kathy Lee was there, though. I was much calmer having her there, not to mention it was just good to see her. As usual, I never realise how much I miss her being around until I either see her or talk to her.
So after the doctor, I came back home, took a nap (slept longer than planned), and then headed down to Bville to see "Reynard, the Fox." When I arrived, I went over to the Davies' to hang out with Anna, Lisa, and Danielle who were cooking supper. Then Lisa and I headed off to the play. It was very cute, and just what I needed to make me laugh. Summer did an excellent job as Reynard, as usual. It was great to see both her and Sara, both of whom I haven't seen since the middle of last semester. I wish all of us could have had more time to talk and hang out, but it was just not in the cards on this visit. I also ran into Rachel, who I haven't seen since my birthday back in June. She told me that she had lost her phone, then lost my number, then lost the letter I wrote her with my info on it, so she couldn't get in touch with me. And all this time I thought she was upset with me. So we're going to try to get together one weekend before my life takes off again to catch up on everything. After all these great reunions, I had to leave and go over to the College Drive house to pick up some mail and see Jamie. Poor girl is having a tough time of it right now, and I hate it for her. I wanted to stay and talk to her longer than I did, but I had to get going. I made one more stop at Annex to pick up my Valentine's Day card from Anna and see Danielle one more time, then I left Bville. Man, I love going down there, but as soon as I get there, I always feel pulled in a hundred different directions because of all the friends I have. I just get spread really thin. But I suppose that's a good problem to have. After leaving Bville, I sped up to Hooters to see Ashley before they closed. And I barely made it. I hadn't seen her since before Christmas, and I figured this weeked would probably be one of the last times I would get to see her before regattas started. She's another girl whose life isn't going too well right now. She's having the usual problems with her idiot boyfriend (who I still can't stand), and her family issues are monstrous. I'll be a very happy person when she finishes school and gets out from underneath all that mess. I stayed up there until she finished her sidework, then I trucked it back home at 1:30. Long day.
We were supposed to have a 9am practice this morning as well, but that got cancelled because Azalea Drive was completely blocked off for some reason, so they couldn't get up to the boathouse. Thankfully I got this message before I left home. So, after debating for about 30 seconds, I went back to bed. :) Until 1. And it felt soooo good! Mainly because I didn't get any sleep the night before and ran off of my two hour nap all day. So now I am feeling good and refreshed and ready to do something. I think I am going to tutor Lexa tonight, which frees up my Sunday, because I think Kathy Lee and I were going to get together tomorrow sometime. Maybe. It's all very spontaneous right now. But right this second, I am going to eat some lunch and study some Optics. Cheers!
