After reviewing the various advice I've gotten from just about everyone, I have decided to actually make an appointment to go see a doctor about my ankle. Amongst all the advice, yesterday's practice more or less cinched it.
I (being the brilliant person I am) decided not to wrap my ankle, because I thought we would be on the water. Sadly, no. The newbies got a boat orientation, and the rest of us returning rowers got to run five hills. There was quite a bit of pain, but it was okay so long as I kept running. I was terrified of running down the hill though; I thought my ankle would give out on me, and then I'd be falling down the hill and ending up in the ER with multiple injuries. But nonetheless, I didn't finish DFL for once. I finished second to DFL. I actually beat J Birch down the hill, and we sprinted together back to the boathouse. I also had Minh at my back forcing me to run harder and faster. You know, as much as I dislike her being my coxswain, she's about the only one who can keep me motivated. Go figure.
Today's practice was great! We FINALLY got on the water!! I ended up back in a 4 sitting in three-seat, rowing starboard. Um, yeah. That was the second time I've ever rowed starboard. It was a learning experience. Maggie sat as stroke on the port side, and it was her second time rowing port. It was definitely awkward with the two of us switching sides, and me having to follow her. We were both apologizing to each other for our performance. :) We also had a newbie (Nicole) sitting in two-seat, and Christie in bow with Minh as our cox. I had problems rowing from the get-go, because the boat was constantly off to starboard, so I couldn't get my blade out of the water. And I was basically relearning how to row on a different side. But after a little while I started getting the hang of it. I had to stroke for Nicole with just the two of us rowing, and that worked out well. All in all, it was a fun morning. It was just so nice to be back on the water again. And Travis said that we will be on the water pretty much every day until the end of the season, which means we have to do our workouts on our own. Ick. Oh well. Maybe I can find someone to go work out with.
Okay I gotta get some homework done. And then maybe a nap before class. Cheers!
