weekly report

Pretty good week last week. HOT weather to deal with, but otherwise good.

Monday - mountain bike
Hit the trails at work with Scott, unfortunately I took "hitting" the trail a bit too literally and went down a couple of times. I did not anticipate getting bloody in the middle of the workday, so I was mentally defeated before we'd finished. We ended up popping out onto the road for the return ride to work instead of staying on the trails. It was muddy and rooty and slick, which is not terrain I'm used to. Still glad I did it though. Total 6.6 miles.

Tuesday - #10kTuesday
Decided since the forecast was highs in the 90s today, I would come to work in my running clothes and get the run done first thing. I realized I need to get re-acclimated to morning running - my pooping schedule is such that 7:30-8 is prime time, so I had to deal with that first. Then I realized that I've gotten used to eating breakfast around 8 when I get to my desk, so I had to chow down on a snack in the car on the way to work. Better planning for next time is needed! It was worth it to get the run done early though considering how warm it already was. I didn't sleep well last night (my coughing and the f*ing cats meowing, all from 2-3am) so I was a bit sluggish, but still managed just over a 9:00 pace for the 6.2 miles.

Wednesday - lift
Had to make it a quick one due to meetings meetings meetings. Almost scrapped it entirely but said NOPE, gotta get it done. So I did! A bit random, no real set routine, but did get some 75lb squats and 60lb bench press. RAWR. Feels good to get that done.

Thursday - run rest
Decided to take a rest day today. Several reasons, none important, but it was a good decision. I walked 2.5 miles on the treadmill desk this morning which felt good. Also took the 'scenic route' walking back to my desk from lunch to get some fresh air. :)

I'm in a mental rut with working out. I need an event on the calendar, but I've hesitated signing up for things because it's so so hard to ensure I'll have adequate time to train for anything. Yeah, I can safely say I'll put in a good hour 4-5 days a week, but longer chunks of time or training consistently on weekends? Who knows. I think that's where some of my funk has come from, just not feeling like I can commit to anything. And I chatted with a coworker today who I've done a couple of relay races with, and it made me miss really training hard for something (he's got a 50k trail race coming up). I need to just bite the bullet and sign up for something, but I feel like the past couple of times I've done that, I've ended up either 1) falling short of my goals or 2) missing the race entirely due to sickness (self or baby) or just general life getting in the way.

Anyway, needed to word vomit that out.

Friday - yoga
Needed this.

Saturday - run
Got up early before chorus coaching and got in a quick 4.7 miles before it got too hot. Took it easy, since this is my first non-10k TUesday run in a couple of months. Not too bad, but definitely not fast. Averaged 9:15/mi pace.

Sunday - bike
Took D in the trailer on a ride on the Swamp Rabbit. It was warm even though it was early (9:30am) but we got in 17.5 miles before D decided he'd had enough. Such a good little sport!
