Title: A Learning Process
Pairing: Yunho/Jaejoong
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Romance, Humor
Summary: Jung Yunho was supposed to be the mysterious, indifferent, student council president. While he’d never stolen any minute of Kim Jaejoong’s attention before, he certainly was now.

Jaejoong sat uncomfortably in his seat, glaring as Ara approached Yunho while he was overseeing the preparations for the club fair. He crossed his arms and frowned as he tried to hold back from running over to where they were so that he could interrupt.

If only he possessed Changmin’s cockblocking skills - if only.

“You look upset.” Yoochun commented as he put his hands on Jaejoong’s shoulders. Jaejoong looked up, and Yoochun smiled down at him, “Are you sure you don’t want to join my club?”

“No thank you, I like my free time.” Jaejoong replied moodily before he stuck his tongue out immaturely at the other student. “I don’t feel like hanging out with your group of supposedly neglected creative minds -“

“Hey!” Yoochun frowned, “We’re not neglected, or me at least. Come on, it’ll be fun. You like my songs anyway, so you can just sit in during the music sessions and listen to the stuff people have.”

“I’ll think about it.” Jaejoong turned away from Yoochun and looked around the gymnasium for Yunho. He frowned, “Yunho’s gone.”

“He’s probably making out with Ara in a dark corner somewhere -“

“Fuck you!” Jaejoong punched Yoochun’s chest and got off the monobloc chair he’d been sitting on. “Let’s go. I’m not interested in this anymore.” He muttered as he pushed Yoochun away when the other tried to come closer, “You’re buying me food on the way home.”

Yoochun glanced at him, “Can you just leave like this?” he asked. “I thought you usually wait for Yunho to dismiss you before you leave.”

“Well, since he’s so busy with that girl, I’m just going to -“

“Where are you going Jaejoong?”

Yoochun and Jaejoong turned around to see Yunho looking at them questioningly. He raised an eyebrow, and Yoochun elbowed Jaejoong to whisper, “I don’t think he likes me that much.”

Jaejoong glanced at Yoochun and replied, “I don’t think he likes anyone.” He patted Yoochun’s shoulder, “I’ll go home with you another day.”

He left Yoochun and walked up to Yunho. He stuck his hands in the pocket of his pants and tilted his head, “Didn’t want me to leave without you?” Jaejoong asked with an amused smile, “It’s okay, you can walk me home if you want.”

“You can ask Mr. Kim to walk you home.” Yunho replied breezily, completely ignoring Jaejoong’s attempts at flirting. “He wants to talk to you before you leave today.”

“Oh. About?”

“The afternoon sessions.”

Jaejoong frowned, “Oh, right.” He looked up at Yunho, “Where’s Ara?” he asked. “Is she out buying your couple shirts?”

Yunho rolled his eyes, “You really don’t have to be jealous of her.” He shook his head and ran a hand through his hair, “Anyway, I’m dismissing you now. Preparations for tomorrow are finished.”

“Oh.” Jaejoong tilted his head, “That’s all you had to say? I thought there was more, seeing as you practically shooed Yoochun away with that moody look of yours.”

“I didn’t shoo him away.”

“You were glaring at him.”

“No I wasn’t.”

“Yeah, okay, of course you weren’t.” Jaejoong smirked and turned to walk away from the student council president. He took a few steps before he once more faced Yunho and called out his name.

Yunho turned around, “What?”

“Just so you know - you really don’t have to be jealous of him.” Jaejoong winked and walked away, all too pleased with the frown on Yunho’s usually impassive face.
o-o-o
“Just so you know, you’ve impressed me with how well you’ve complied with the rules regarding our arrangement.” Mr. Kim said as he arranged the things on his desk, “It’s nice to know that you can follow some rules.”

“Cut to the chase.”

The older man frowned, wrinkles creasing on his forehead, but he continued anyway, all too used to Jaejoong’s manner of speaking. “Well, tomorrow is Friday, and it’s the last day of your afternoon session.”

“It is?” Jaejoong asked, his eyes widening. “Are you sure you don’t want to -“ he stopped talking as soon as he noticed the odd look on the older man’s face. “Yeah, okay. Fine. Good. I’m glad it’s over.”

“Same here.” the man replied, “Changmin only had complaints about you.” Jaejoong watched as the older man shuffled papers, “Yet Yunho only had good things to say.”

“Oh really now? What did Yunho say?”

“I can’t disclose that to you, but trust me, I was surprised to hear it.” Mr. Kim opened his drawer and placed the papers inside, he looked up, “Besides, Changmin seems to detest new people who hang around him and Yunho, so I was unsurprised to hear his complaints about your presence. Not to mention the fact that you’re not the easiest person to -“

“What about my grade?”

“The adjustments have been made.” The older man replied with a dismal wave of his hand, “Well, that’s all I have to talk about. Thank you for cooperating, and I do look forward to seeing more improvements in your attitude.”

“Yeah, we’ll see about that.” Jaejoong muttered as he shoved his hands in his pockets and walked out of the room. He opened the door, and as soon as he was in the corridor, he slammed into Yunho.

He blinked twice, “Oh, I’m sorry.”

Yunho stared at him, and it made him shift uncomfortably. He ran his hand through his hair impulsively, waiting for the student council president to say something.

“It’s our last session tomorrow.” Yunho said slowly, studying Jaejoong’s face with his usual impassive expression.

“I know.”

“Okay.” Yunho made a move to walk past Jaejoong, but before he could open the door, Jaejoong had already turned around and taken hold of his wrist. He glanced at the other, but didn’t say anything in protest.

Jaejoong let go, completely forgetting what he’d wanted to say in the first place. “I’m sorry.” He blushed, “Well, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Yeah, tomorrow.” Yunho replied with a small smile and softer look, before he turned away again and opened the door. As soon as the door shut behind him, Jaejoong let out a sigh and slumped against the wall.

What was he going to do tomorrow?
o-o-o
“What am I going to do Chun?” Jaejoong asked as he walked home anxiously, biting his lip in frustration, “What am I going to do tomorrow?”

“Seduce him?”

“Your ideas are so -“ Jaejoong paused, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk. He considered the idea for a moment, “Would it work? I wonder what kind of kinks he’s into, that’d make it - how stupid are you Yoochun? Seduce him? Really?”

“Just because you’re frustrated with your lack of sex appeal, don’t take it out on me.” The other drawled, hardly fazed by Jaejoong’s insult. “I’m sure if Ara -“

“Why do you keep bringing her up? I hate her, and I’m fairly sure I’m not lacking in sex appeal.”

“If Ara flashed those legs of hers, then Yunho wouldn’t even think of keeping her hanging anymore. You know though Jae, you could probably work a mini skirt too, but I don’t think -“

“I’m hanging up now.” Jaejoong muttered before he disconnected the call and shoved his phone moodily into his pocket. He sighed and glanced in the direction of the store next to him and was surprised to see that someone was looking at him.

He furrowed his brows - she looked familiar.

Jihye.

Jung Jihye.

Yunho’s sister.

A charming smile spread across his face, and he waved back. He didn’t bother thinking about hesitation - he immediately walked inside the store. If his afternoon sessions, his only opportunity to talk to Yunho alone and unbothered, were going to end - he’d make sure that the last one went well.

Jung Yunho would be his.

Hopefully.
o-o-o
Jaejoong approached the girl with a bright smile. Jihye looked a little surprised by the fact that he had decided to approach her, the shock reading across her face for a few seconds, but it quickly faded away as soon as she greeted him properly with a bright smile of her own.

“Hi.” She greeted, “I’m a little surprised you came up to me.” Jihye admitted with a shy smile, “I didn’t think you would.”

Jaejoong raised an eyebrow, “Why?”

“Well, everyone in my school’s heard of you somewhat.” Jihye replied with a shrug, “It’s all just rumors, but they’re interesting rumors nonetheless.”

“What kind of rumors?”

“You lit someone’s bag on fire for fun.” Jihye listed, “I’ve heard another one in which you sent a guy to a hospital, and I’ve also heard that there was a time when you had both a girlfriend and a boyfriend.”

Jaejoong frowned, “Firstly, only the second one is true - and he deserved it because he was an asshole. The first one only happened because I was at a party, and as I was about to lit a cigarette, this drunk bumped into me, I dropped my lighter, and thus someone’s bag suffered the consequences.”

“And the third?”

“You should ask -“ he hesitated, realizing that he didn’t know if Yunho had come out to his family, or if he’d come out to anyone. Jihye was looking at him expectantly, and he thought of an answer quickly, “No, it’s not true. I don’t do relationships.”

“My friends will be disappointed then.” Jihye pointed at a group of girls that were trying to hide the fact that they were watching the two of them intently, “They think you’re terribly attractive in that whole bad boy appeal.”

“Your brother’s not their type?”

“The idea of competing against...” she thought, “What’s her name again? Oh wait, I remember now, Go Ara, tends to make most girls give up on my brother. The fact he seems rather asexual doesn’t help anyone either.”

“Asexual?” Jaejoong asked with an amused smile, as he thought, more like homosexual. He laughed, “I’ve never thought of calling him that.”

“Well, he is. I know because he’s my brother.” Jihye tilted her head, “How close are you and my brother?” she asked, “I don’t mean to be rude, but I’m just curious and because you’re not his usual choice of company.”

“We’re...friends.” he offered, unsure of what to say. As much as he wanted to ask Jihye a personal question about her brother such as, ‘Do you know what team your brother plays for?’ or just a flat out, ‘Is your brother gay? Bisexual? Straight?’ he couldn’t.

Not to mention, Jaejoong was fairly sure that if he asked Yunho directly, he would not be getting kissed any time soon.

And he rather liked Yunho’s lips.

“Oh, I see.” Jihye smiled, “I was just wondering why you came over to our house that time. Yunho doesn’t usually like having anyone aside from Changmin over.”

“I’m the lovely exception.” Jaejoong replied, “Anyone can see I’m much prettier than Shim.”

“I guess so.” Jihye laughed, “Well, I have to get back to my friends now. It was nice talking to you Jaejoong.”

“You too.”

She walked away, and Jaejoong frowned.

He hadn’t learned anything new.

Damn.
o-o-o
Jaejoong stopped in his tracks and stared.

Yunho was playing with a kid. They were kicking a football back and forth, and Jaejoong was fairly sure the kid was about to die from joy due to the way he was laughing and replying happily to everything Yunho was saying.

He was envious, and he was also fairly sure that if he possessed any ovaries, they would’ve exploded at the sight of Yunho being so -

Jaejoong slapped his forehead.

What was he thinking?

He glanced at the two again and covered his face with his hands. He was acting absolutely ridiculous - his crush on Yunho was making his hormones go haywire in the worst way possible. It was like he’d swallowed an entire bottle of estrogen pills or somehow transformed into one of his sisters.

A ball hit his chest, and he was about to shout profanities until he realized that the ball had come from Yunho and his playmate.

Yunho walked up to him, his playmate following a few steps behind, and Jaejoong kicked the ball toward him moodily, his previous train of thought still lurking at the back of his mind.

The ball rolled to Yunho, and he picked it up. He handed it to his playmate, told him to play on his own for a bit, and walked up to Jaejoong who was pouting.

“Who’s that?” Jaejoong asked as he jerked his chin in the direction of the boy who was juggling the football a short distance away from them.

Yunho raised an eyebrow, “Why, are you jealous?” he laughed at the irritated expression on Jaejoong’s face and shook his head. “No, that’s my neighbor. I used to tutor him, but because you and I started spending our afternoons together, I had to cancel on him.”

“Oh.”

“Next week I’ll be back to tutoring him though.” Yunho continued as he crossed his arms in front of his chest. “Since our sessions are ending and -“

“Can we do something tomorrow?” Jaejoong interrupted, once again exhibiting his habit of blurting out his thoughts without much thinking. He blushed, “Since it’s the last day and all.”

“Oh.” Yunho tilted his head, “There are interviews tomorrow.”

“For?” Jaejoong asked, sounding more upset than he would’ve liked. He frowned and crossed his arms, “I don’t remember -“

“There were sign ups today.” Yunho cut in, “For the volunteer committee. I’m interviewing possible committee heads tomorrow since no one else was free to -“

“No one else was free, or you just wanted to do it?”

“Look, I’m sorry -“

“No, it’s fine.” Jaejoong muttered as he brushed his bangs to the side, “Anyway, I’ll help you out with the interviews. File papers and do other useless menial tasks while Changmin annoys me to an early death -“

“You could volunteer if you want - I think you’d do well, you’ve proven yourself as rather capable after all.” Yunho suggested, “My house is near, I could get you a form if you -“

“Me?” Jaejoong shook his head, “No thanks.” He shoved his hands in his pockets and shrugged, “I’m not interested.”

“Okay then.”

They stared at each other for a bit before Yunho glanced back and noticed that his neighbor was kicking the ball idly waiting for him. He turned back to Jaejoong, “I guess I should go now. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Yeah, sure.” Jaejoong muttered, “I have to go anyway.” He turned away, and began to make his way home.

His home was in sight when he stopped in his tracks in realization.

Had Yunho just asked him, in a weird, mysterious, mildly vague and implied Yunho-like way, to volunteer?

His eyes widened as he tried to recall Yunho’s words.

“You could volunteer if you want - I think you’d do well, you’ve proven -“

Oh fuck.

“Fuck!” Jaejoong yelled as he threw his hands up in the air, scaring the innocent children on the street, gaining looks of surprise from men walking past, and earning himself a glare from every woman nearby.

He ignored all their reactions and ran in the direction of Yunho’s house.
o-o-o
He rang the doorbell and waited for someone to answer. Jaejoong paced anxiously by the gate and bit his lip, hoping that Yunho would poke his head out of the door.

Luck was on his side - Yunho was the one who came out.

Jaejoong was fairly sure his hair was a mess and that he was sweating - not to mention he was winded as well. He held onto Yunho’s gate and breathed out heavily, the running had been too much for him - Yunho’s house was so far from his.

“Please,” he gasped for breath, “Form.”

Yunho approached him with slow steps and opened the gate for him, “What?” he asked as he reached out for Jaejoong and helped him stand up straight. He raised an eyebrow and studied Jaejoong, “What did you say?”

Jaejoong met Yunho’s confused gaze and gathered himself. “I want a form. I want to try out for the volunteer committee.”

“Oh. Why did you run -“

“Because I -“ Jaejoong held his breath and stopped speaking. His heart was racing his chest, he was out of breath, and his brain wasn’t working properly. His confession was on the tip of his tongue, and -

“Because I think I could benefit the student body and be an important asset to the student council.” He finished.

Yunho blinked twice, Jaejoong’s words were obviously not the ones he’d expected to hear. He gathered his composure and shook his head, an amused smile on his face as he took a step back from Jaejoong. “Save that for the interview tomorrow.”

He began to walk back, “Wait here, I’ll get the form.”

Jaejoong’s heart thudded in his chest, and he shut his eyes in relief. Thank God. He’d avoided a near disaster. He couldn’t imagine what would’ve happened if he’d confessed to Yunho in his current breathless, sweaty and dishevelled state.

He was supposed to be in a breathless, sweaty and dishevelled state after the confession, and after Yunho had ravished him properly - or at least, that’s how it always went in his overactive imagination.

Jaejoong was recalling a previous daydream when Yunho came back with the form in hand. He cleared his throat, and Jaejoong blinked twice, surprised by the student council president’s sudden appearance.

“Here. Fill it up and give it to me tomorrow.”

“Okay.” Jaejoong took the form out of Yunho’s hand and held it with his own. He looked back up at Yunho and tilted his head, “Who else is vying for the position?”

“Well, there were a few at first but quite a lot dropped out. There are only around four people going against you, Ara -“

“Ara?” Jaejoong walked up to Yunho and fluttered his eyelashes, “You said that you like me more than her. You’re going to choose me over her, aren’t you?” he asked.

“It depends.”

“On?”

“If Changmin decides to join the interviewing process,” Yunho began, and Jaejoong’s face fell. “And if you fill out that form correctly.”

“I’ll fill it out correctly, don’t worry.” Jaejoong replied with a brilliant smile.

A smile quirked at the corner of Yunho’s lips, he shook his head in disbelief and began to usher Jaejoong back out, “Go home and fill up the form.” He shoved Jaejoong out the gate and locked it before he made his way back inside.

Jaejoong chuckled and smiled happily as he began to make his way back home.
o-o-o
Jaejoong came to the student council room at lunch so that he could pass the form to Yunho without anyone seeing. He opened the door, and Yunho was inside - luckily, he was alone.

“Where’s your demonic vice president?” Jaejoong asked, strolling into the room with a more relaxed demeanor. He smiled and walked up to Yunho, “Did he finally decide to detach himself from you?”

“It’s lunch. He’s busy eating.” Yunho replied as he stood up and met Jaejoong halfway across the room. He held out his hand, and Jaejoong handed him the form. He glanced down at it and then back to Jaejoong, “You’re sure about this, right?”

“Of course.”

“Well, you’re going to be interviewed last.” Yunho explained, “After...I forgot. Anyway, Changmin’s going to present, so you’ll have to try to impress him in some way.”

“What -“

“I’m sorry, I couldn’t convince him to spend his time elsewhere. It is his job to help me out anyway, so there wasn’t much I could do -“

Jaejoong cut Yunho off with a kiss. It was short, but he made sure to nip at Yunho’s bottom lip before he pulled away. He winked, “For luck -“

The door was kicked open, and Changmin stood at the doorway with his usual frown and an armful of food.

“What are you doing here?” Changmin asked, as he balanced the assortment of food that he had in his arms. He frowned even further after he’d noticed their proximity, “What kind of moves are you trying to pull?” he asked Jaejoong accusingly.

He put his food down on the closest table and pulled Jaejoong by the wrist sharply, “Your time with him is in the afternoon, he’s my best friend not yours - you have your own. Go back to Park, and leave us alone unless you can convince me that you’re worth having around.”

“Hey -“

“Goodbye now.” Changmin interrupted. He waved his hand in an irritating gesture of farewell before he slammed the door in Jaejoong’s face.
o-o-o
Jaejoong let out a breath and waited for Ara’s interview to finish.

He was the last interviewee, and he was fairly sure that Changmin would not be pleased to see him come in after Ara. The door opened, and Ara walked out. She shot him a nervous smile before she walked away.

Jaejoong stood up and ran a hand through his hair. He glanced at his reflection in a nearby window, winked at himself, and entered the student council room. However, as soon as he was entering, Changmin was leaving.

They bumped into each other, and Changmin’s eyes widened.

“What -“

“Watch where you’re -“

“Yunho didn’t tell me -“

“Get out of the -“

Yunho coughed from his spot inside and shot an uninterested look at the two of them. He shook his head at their squabbling, “Changmin, I asked you to ask Mr. Kim for the permission slips. Go get them.”

“I’ll stay for his...” Changmin frowned and glared at Jaejoong, “I really don’t understand why you’re trying out for this. You’re not responsible -“

“I’m reformed. I haven’t cut classes lately.” Jaejoong replied with a fake smile plastered onto his face. He tilted his head, “Don’t you have somewhere to be? It’s time for my interview.”

“You irritating -“

Jaejoong took the time to push Changmin out. As soon as the taller student was out of the doorway, he quickly locked the door before Changmin could fight his way back in.

He smiled at Yunho innocently while Changmin pounded on the door angrily, yelling curses through the only thing barring him from the office.

“What?”

Yunho shook his head in amusement, “Sit down. I’ll talk to him.” He stood up while Jaejoong sat down on the designated chair across Yunho’s desk. He waited while Yunho talked to Changmin, and when Yunho entered, he turned his head.

“Did your conversation go well?” he asked, continuing with his innocent look.

“It could’ve gone better.”

“I could kiss it better.”

Yunho stared at him, “Do you want me to ask Changmin to come back?”

“No.”

“Then behave.”

“Fine.”
o-o-o
When Jaejoong was on his way home, his phone began to ring.

He pulled it out of his pant pocket and stared at the unfamiliar number for a few seconds before he answered. “Hello?”

“Congratulations.”

“What?”

“I convinced Changmin that you deserved the position over Jiyong.” Yunho explained on the other end of the line, a hint of amusement in his voice. “You’re officially the head of the volunteer committee.”

“Me?” Jaejoong asked as he turned around and began to make his way to Yunho’s house. “You managed to convince him? How?”

“I used my persuasive skills.” Yunho replied. “Anyway, Changmin’s just naturally protective -“

“More like possessive.” Jaejoong muttered as he crossed the street.

“He’s just concerned. I’m his best friend. He’s worried that you’re intent on seducing me and making me yours. He doesn’t want me to fall prey to your rumoured charms.”

“I like guys.”

“I know.”

“So...” Jaejoong furrowed his brows in thought. “Changmin’s worried that I might seduce you? Why would he think that unless...he knows you like...whatever it is that you like?”

“You mean men, and yes, Changmin knows. He’s my best friend.”

“Oh.” Jaejoong slowed down to a walk, mulling over the new knowledge.

Changmin knew Yunho was gay, and now he knew Yunho was gay which meant Ara had no chance at seducing Yunho, and that made Jaejoong very happy.

“So, when do I get to start spending more time with you?” Jaejoong asked as he rang the doorbell. “You’re playing around with my delicate feelings by leaving me hanging like this.”

“You have feelings?” Yunho asked before he muffled the phone and shouted at his sister to answer the door - Jaejoong overhearing everything despite Yunho’s attempt to block out the shout. “There’s a joint meeting on Monday, but you and I won’t have any private -“

“What? Why?”

“It’s not necessary for us to do so at the moment.” Yunho replied calmly, seemingly oblivious to Jaejoong’s frustrated tone of voice. “I could just call you if I need something, seeing as I have your number now.”

“You wanted me to join, and then we’re not going to spend time together?"

“I wanted you to join?”

“Yes, you did. I know you did. Don’t be irritating and vague. You suggested for me to do so, and I know you wanted me to apply. Now tell me directly, just so I can feel better about the fact that we’re not going to have private sessions in the near future. Did you want me to join?”

Yunho was silent.

“Fine. Whatever. I wanted you to join since I think you’re good company and you’re more amusing than I thought you would be. Don’t let this -”

“Good, that’s all I wanted to hear or needed to hear at the moment.” Jaejoong replied as he waved at Jihye, who was approaching him to open the gate. “I have to go. Bye.” He pocketed his phone and smiled at her.

“Hey, I’m here to see your brother.”

“Yeah, sure.” Jihye opened the gate, and Jaejoong followed her inside the house. She pointed the staircase, “Just go up, first room on the left. It’s best if you knock first. He’s really particular about stuff like that.”

Jaejoong nodded, with no intention of knocking. “Thanks.” He went up the stairs slowly, looking at the childhood pictures of the Jung siblings on the wall before he jogged up and turned left.

He stared at Yunho’s door for a few seconds before he gained the confidence to touch the doorknob. He held still before he swung the door open.

“Hi -“

Yunho was shirtless.

Jaejoong’s eyes narrowed onto the other student’s chest. He tried to bring his eyes back up, but he was much too distracted by Yunho’s half-naked state and the fact that he had abs.

“I -“

“What are you doing here?” Yunho asked as he got off his bed and walked over to Jaejoong. “What did you say to Jihye in order for her to let you in?”

Jaejoong finally managed to tear his eyes off Yunho’s sculpted figure and bit his lip hesitantly, “I wanted to surprise you?” he asked, “I just wanted to thank you for...for convincing Changmin to accept me.”

“Okay, you surprised me.” Yunho replied as he picked up a shirt off the floor. He was about to put it on when he faced Jaejoong, “Is there anything else?”

“Yes.”

Jaejoong pressed his lips against Yunho’s, inching up slightly so that he could reach the other boy’s lips. He felt Yunho’s arms wrap around his waist to bring him closer, and he immediately opened his mouth for Yunho after feeling the other boy’s tongue run along his bottom lip.

Yunho took a step back, and they fell onto Yunho’s bed. Jaejoong fell onto Yunho’s body, and Yunho groaned. “That...wasn’t nice.” He shifted before he glanced at Jaejoong, who was still comfortably on top of him. “You’re not as light as you think you are, get off -“

Jaejoong met his eyes and bit his lip. “Yunho, I like -“

“What are you two doing?”

The two students turned their heads in surprise and stared at the person at the door.

Oh shit.
