Yay Obama!

I'm a few days late on this, but I wanted to say that I'm so stoked about Barack Obama's election as president! I voted via absentee ballot the week before, avoiding the lines. However I accompanied my boyfriend, Ben, to the poles, as he also voted Obama. It was a much anticipated day and to celebrate, we visited his older sister and her family, who lived nearby. We all shared some Halloween candy, and a few "adult" beverages, while watching his victory unfold on national television. It was so amazing seeing the electoral votes race! I couldn't believe how the poles weren't even officially closed yet, and Obama was already elected.

The celebration downtown Chicago for his acceptance speech was also nothing short of amazing! I also felt it fair to mention that I was quite pleasantly surprized by John Mccain's concession speech at the end. He was very gracious about loosing the election and offered not only praises to Obama, but help if he ever needed it. I'm very proud of John Mccain, and actually felt for him when he delivered the speech. I, along with many others, felt he still would have been a good president, had he won. It's just a pity he didn't win over Bush 8 years ago, or even in the last 4 years. At least then he'd have been a bit younger.

I also feel sorry for Sarah Palin, who now has to face national humiliation for being the biggest joke to ever run for a VP. I hear that even in her home state of Alaska, some have already lost some respect for her. I just hope that she'll be able to manage and move on. Although I don't want to totally dis her either. She seemed to have good spirits, just not enough knowledge and experience.

Anyway, that's my ramblings on the election. Did I mention...I damn near cried the other day when Obama won? Such an emotional, pivotal moment in US history! I shall remember Nov. 4th, 2008 forever... :)
