Yay Obama!

I'm a few days late on this, but I wanted to say that I'm so stoked about Barack Obama's election as president! I voted via absentee ballot the week before, avoiding the lines. However I accompanied my boyfriend, Ben, to the poles, as he also voted Obama. It was a much anticipated day and to celebrate, we visited his older sister and her family ( Read more... )

Hello, I don't know you but while reading your post, it reminded me so much of my thoughts! I too was excited to see Barack Obama win. It was a momentous occasion to see the first black president elected, but...what brought tears to my eyes was when I looked into the crowd and saw so many different looks. Black, white, tall, short, slim and thick all supported him and now celebrated the win with him. It shows unity and that we are moving forward with change. I'm all about unity and seeing past color ( ... )

Hello! Always good to see new people, esp. ones inspired by my words, :)

I agree about McCain with Palin. They brought her on board simply as a marketing tool and I don't know if he'd have gotten as far as he did without that. But as you just stated, many did not vote for him because of her. So it's hard to say really if choosing her for VP helped him or hurt him.

Yeah I know he'll have tough times ahead of him. Bush did too 8 years ago. 911 happened shortly after. I just hope that people won't give their hopes up just because he can't fix problems overnight. May take years to fix the rotten economy.

I do not consider her the biggest joke. I have great respect and admiration for her, and found her the best thing the GOP has done in a long time.

And life is funny like that-- imagine that in 20 years history books will once again be teaching things that we have lived through. I used to think my Grandmother had been lucky to live through "history"-- until I got older and realized that we are constantly living through history, though we don't realize it until many years later.

And how are you, btw?

Well...perhaps I came off a bit too harsh on Palin. Though many others have been much harsher. She did have a good heart indeed and had a lot of guts to run.

But again, lack of knowledge. The latest news is that she didn't know that Africa was a continent (thought it was many small countries), and that this bit of info was held out until after the election.

I agree with your last statement. This will be a hallmark that few Americans will forget.

I'm doing good. Had a decent Halloween, but I did dress up for work at least. That was fun. Job's going OK but it is getting a bit slower...again. Part of it is cuz of the lousy economy, but hopefully things will pick back up again soon. Bf's doing good too, working a lot. How are you?
