Don't post a lot anymore I know. Been lazy. Trying to get better about it.
Anyway last month I went home and visited my family and friends in good ol' Indiana. It's always surreal anymore to step in the old house, seeing how I lived there for soooooooooooooooo long and now don't live there at all anymore. But it's only weird for the first hour or so, then I'm already used to it again, like I never left. Effed up feeling!
On the plane ride home I felt kinda of sleepy on the plane, and it wasn't just cuz I was slightly hung over from the night before (yes...not so innocent nowadays, ). It felt weird, like I was a slightly sickish and tired. The first day home we went to the State Fair, I deliberately planned it that way so this year I could go. Even then I felt a bit sickishly tired. I had gotten a bit of sun though, walking around the fair on a hot day. I determined I wasn't used to the climate of the Midwest anymore, or the humidity. So I believe I had a bit of climate sickness, which is usually only temporary, much like jet lag. I had the same thing when I visited my folks down in their new rental house in Houston, TX earlier in the year. Either way, Indiana or Texas, I DID travel 2000 miles, in a quick amount of time! Surely gonna be a climate change my body wasn't used to. Anyway, thought that was interesting enough to point out.
The rest of the week we did things that we used to do when I did still live there. We went up to Lake Michigan to the Indiana Dunes and went swimming in wavy water. We brought the belly boards and did some belly-boarding, ;) I got a chance to visit with Kristy, my old friend from Indy, and invited her along to the Dunes, plus other activities we did. We did some swimming in local pools as well. We went to a concert in the park and ordered Donatos Pizza later (don't have those out in Seattle, so I miss it...plus I used to work there long ago).
The middle part of the week I did some mundane things, like cleaning up my old bedroom, :p I packed some old stuff from my room and took it home with me. Mike, my older brother, and his friend Jenny, came over and I got to spend some time with them. I also went to their house one day, and we kicked back, had some booze, and sat down watching some of our favorite movies. We also saw the Harold and Kumar movies, including the sequal which just came out this year (I hadn't seen it yet).
Latter in the week, my mom and I drove down to Metamora, IN one day, an old, rustic river town, which hosts several big festivals every year. On my last weekend there, my dad finally showed up. He flew in from Houston that week so he could benefit from the long, Labor Day weekend. I didn't have much time to spend with him, only two days, before I had to leave... :( But I suggested we do something fun on the Sat. I had with him. So we all went to Indiana Beach amusement park and rode both the water slides and the rides. Kristy and I got to go on a brand new roller coaster there which sort of turns you upside down and keeps you upside down as it goes along, for a bit. Was pretty intense!
I left on Sunday and hugged everyone, even my old dog which btw has been having some health issues because of her old age. She's doing better now after some treatments, according to my mom. She seemed healthy and vibrant when i was back that week...miss my puppy! Along with everyone else of course.
I'll try to get up some piccys soon. I'll also be posting about the Labor Day trip my bf and I took, that long weekend only a week after I got back. That was fun too!
