Today there are three things that I absolutely have to do: finish the Multiverse story, plant cucumbers, and take the Pup for a walk.

Amazon is having a freakishly awesome sale on Fox sci-fi dvd sets and I was trying to decide whether I wanted season 2 of The X-Files of Buffy when I realized that Space: Above and Beyond is not only out on dvd but is also a part of the truly awesome sale. SCORE! S:AaB is one of the great cancelled sci-fi shows, created by Glen Morgan and James Wong of XF fame. Before Firefly this was the premiere example of Fox screwing over a great SF show by moving its timeslot around and then cancelling it after a killer season finale cliffhanger.

Unfortunately it sounds like the dvd set kind of sucks, no commentaries, no special features but not really an impetus to my fangirl devotion. Fox just sucks and we all knew that already anyway.

That's it, decison's made and I know I said I had to save my money but it's a half off sale and a girl can only take so much.

Speaking of great tv shows cancelled before they had a chance, I spent last night downloading episodes of Kitchen Confidential, a great comedy that was cancelled last fall. It's freaking hilarious! The last ep I saw last night was one that guest-starred Michael Vartan as the head chef from the french restaurant across the street with whom the boys of Nolita (the setting of our show) start a restaurant war. I always thought Michael Vartan was a not-so-great actor because of his Vaughn character on Alias but he rocked the casbah. Especially funny were the scenes between him and Bradley Cooper (Nolita's head chef) but that might have been more actor meta then anything else. Then there was the bit where Nicholas Brendon kept on having to go deal with the crazy baker in the basement and I was FILLED WITH GLEE. I'm not usually a fan of televised comedy but this show I would've made appointment TV.

All right, that's enough TV babble from me. In summation, Fox is ass and needs to stop cancelling TV shows before they find the right audience. The End.

ETA: OK, OK, I didn't order the S:AaB dvd set. I have my fingers crossed that it'll still be on sale next Thursday when I get paid. pleaseohpleaseohplease My practical side wins out again. *grumble*

tv is my crack
