mair_aw may remember that the previous owner of my Brompton filled the inner tubes with some kind of green self-puncture-sealing goo. She hypothesised that this may be why I don't seem to get punctures. (Personally, I suspect it's because I ride an awful lot less than her.)

I need some kind of front-mounted clue-launcher for my bicycle. Preferably one which causes four-by-four drivers* to explode.

Does anyone want to work out the maths to see how hard I'd have to pedal to power a good-size microwave?

Last week, stress and fatigue ended up cancelling a PhD meeting.

This week, stress and fatigue have caused my bike's brake handle to snap. Just as I was starting the descent of a hill.

Fun tho'.

I decided to get off and walk when it dawned on me that I could no longer brake and signal a right turn at the same time.

Natraj in Portswood Road wins the "accepts rained-upon students showing up carrying a dripping wet Brompton without hassle" prize. They even held the doors open for me.

Also, the curry was damn good.

Chain Lubrication

Been doing some Brompton maintainance. To my surprise, there was writing on the hub! Writing! Letters! Previously completely obscured by London muck!

Shiiiny!

I basically stole Mair's idea (and, er, her tape), and made my new (second hand) Brompton a lot more reflective. I didn't do it to the same painstaking completeness, but at least I should be less likely to be hit by morons in four-by-fours. The dynamo works now, too.
