Have you guys ever seen
Push? It's a 2009 film starring Chris Evans (CASEY JONES/CAPTAIN AMERICA) and Dakota Fanning (whatevs). It also featues Djimon Hounsou, who I'd never heard of before but who is pretty fucking hot and has an extremely sexy voice. It takes place in an alternate universe where governments around the world began fostering the use of psychics as weapons during world war 2. The central conflict of the movie is between the American 'Special Division' responsible for utilizing the psychics, and a number of psychic expatriates living in Hong Kong and trying to fight the authoritarian and corrupt Division. There are standard types of powers and names for them (Movers are telekinetic, Sniffs are clairvoyant, etc.).
Psychic power stories are always pretty damn awesome, and I really liked the movie. It only got 22% on RT, which I think is a little unfair. Certainly it suffers from weak writing, but nothing about the film is actually bad, just mediocre. I originally saw it on tv last year when I was in Jamaica, and I watched it again yesterday because I wanted to see if it was really as enjoyable as I remembered. It was.
What's more, I have been inspired to write Sherlock/Push fusion. I'm going to try to do multiple shorter stories instead of my usual unfinishable epic, in part because I think I can get at least 3-4 h/c bingo stories out of it. WOO.
Has anyone else seen this movie?
