Alright so I have no voice, but I had a pretty good weekend. For the record, the voice ran out before the weekend lol; I felt it starting after my birthday, and my voice started going on Thursday/Friday. By Saturday I could barely speak, which sucked because I worked a shift at Change - but the manager, Cheyvonne, said she was really confident with us ('us' being me and one other girl working a training shift at the same time, who's also going to Don Mills when it opens) and is excited to work with us, so that makes me feel good.
I also tried to get in touch with both Gisele (snowboard manager at Skiis and Biikes and the manager who's supposed to teach me how to balance tills) and Mary-Ellen, but apparently everyone hates me so no dice on either one. Oh well.
I told my parents that I was thinking of coming home that night so she said Christa could pick me up from work, but that she might be late because they were in Burlington and she had to get the car from Newmarket and then get back to Thornhill to get me. Whatever. But apparently my dad loves me cause he decided to just be late for their dinner plans and get me on the way instead. Yea, he rocks my world. Even gave me money to go out haha, even though my mom thought I should have stayed in and drunk only water. Oh well.
OH! And they got me a portable air conditioner for my room! All on their PC Points lol. My parents are Points masters! But I'm pretty happy with the outcome :).
So I got home on Saturday night, had some dinner, and then Andrea came over. Fuck I missed that girl. She brought my birthday present, too - some really nice lip stuff (the package says "nourishing lip butter") because, well, it's tradition lol, and a $25 card for H&M, because she tells me "I had it narrowed down to, like, 11 shirts, but then I thought 'I don't know what she's buying lately, maybe I should just let her pick.'". Yea, she's a smart one lol. I'm pretty excited to have money to spend again haha.
Her mom drove us to the Mansion House - I know, Sutton, gross, but Jen and Joe live in Sutton and it was their birthday celebration (even though Jen has the same birthday as me! aaah!). The bar was DEAD, which I absolutely hate, and it was loud, so we couldn't even just chill out and have a casual drink. Terrible combination. And it was a little awkward, for me at least, because some people from high school started showing up and I sort of got expelled from the group (to be fair, I kind of got the ball rolling on that one myself) and I didn't have a voice so I couldn't even attempt to make meaningless small talk. And then a great "it's a small world" moment happened:
A guy slides up to our table. I think, "This guy looks familiar." Then Joe introduces him as 'Alex' and I'm like "I really think I know this guy - is this Leslie's Alex?". When he leaves for a second I ask Joe if he went to Keswick High and he says yea, so when Alex gets back, the following happens:
me: I'm pretty sure I know you.
him: Well, I get around.
me: Do you know Leslie?
him: *face brightens* LESLIE!
me: Yea, I don't talk to her anymore.
table: *laughter*
interjection: THE PRICE IS WRONG, BITCH!
But we chatted a bit throughout the night - he must be high all the time, but he's a giggly drunk lol. At one point he got into a terrible fight with Jen over whether or not bellybutton rings are trampy (him: yes, Jen: no). Overall, I had a good time, despite the terrible location lol. By the end of the night we were drunk enough to dance even though there was no one else on the dance floor except for weird old people. And at the end of the night a fifty-one-year-old tried to pick up Jen, and she told him he had to go away, and the bouncers all laughed. It was good times.
And then today the traditional Father's Day activities ensued: we all made fun of my dad, he got a nice present (BluRay DVDs, because he is my father, after all). We went to Boston Pizza for a nice family lunch - we couldn't get Andrea as our server because she only had four-person tables in her section (sad face), but she came over a few times to say hi. My dad teased her like always - he really has a lot more than three kids, that man. And he loves every minute of it lol.
interjection the second: is McDonalds really launching an ad campaign that suggests their coffee and breakfast will make you less productive? That seems stupid.
After that we went home and I didn't really do much. We decided to skip family dinner because we were all so stuffed from Boston Pizza, but we had ice cream cake still, because that's how we roll. I called Skiis and Biikes back but neither Gisele nor Ben were there - Kate was, though. She actually answered the phone, and we chatted for a bit about my new job (apparently she loves Change, and was in fact wearing one of their bras that moment lol). She then commented on my voice (remember, Kate was the manager who kept on me about staying healthy when I had like a million colds in the winter) - this happened:
me: would you believe I have another cold?
Kate: FUCK OFF!
me: I know, it's ridiculous.
Kate: I'm gonna get you a giant bucket of vitamin C.
me: *laughs* thanks.
It's a pretty funny scenario when you're more afraid of telling your manager than your mom that you've somehow contracted a cold in the middle of June. I'm so excited to go back to Skiis and Biikes :D.
After that my parents drove me home - but first we drove to 'Sauga cause my dad sold his bike, so he had to take it to the guy. Mom and I drove behind him the whole way, and I tell ya, my mom is pretty funny when she's following him. She was freaking out every time a car got too close to him. Then they dropped me off, my dad set up the AC unit (yay!) and they left.
So now here I sit, watching Happy Gilmore (as if that weren't obvious from the first interjection. Yesssss). I'm bored. But I'm chatting with le boy so that's got me in a pretty good mood.
Natasha asked me before my birthday if we were still a collection of random hookups, or if we'd progressed to something more yet. I told her that we were still just random hookups, and that I wasn't sure if either of us really wanted to push the boundaries there. The problem, of course, is that he lives in Ottawa and I live in Toronto - Meghan is familiar with this problem. I like the idea of being more, but I'm just not sure I could pull it off. I get restless, you know me. And I don't think it's really fair to ask for that sort of commitment from him either. I guess if he brought it up, I'd give it a go, but I'm not comfortable breaching the subject. And why ruin the fun we're having now? The other problem, of course, is that I'm head over frickin' heels. Blah boys make life complicated.
And... yea, that's my life. Sorry about the length.
peace out
