Not dead...promise

Okay, so I didn't get the job. I've dealt with it by burying myself in a total immersion Japanese language program. It uses pictures, mostly, to teach you the hiragana, katakana, and kanji...all at the same time. I'm, admittedly very slowly, picking up the hiragana now. It's making things much better for me. The program allows me to type in hiragana, katakana and kanji on my laptop. That's totally freaking cool, in my opinion, and is an important part of my learning. I've always been a visual learner. I've even been able to memorize a few dozen kanji just this weekend alone. Hopefully, one of these days, I'll finally be able to read doujinshi and watch anime without having to wait for English translations.

You've probably noticed that writing is stalled again. Nothing unusual there. I typically hit a dry spell around this time of year. It's Louisville, after all, and Derby fever has us all caught up. We're also trying to wind up the kids' school year on the best note possible.

On a not so good note, the arthritis in my back has leveled up to an almost agonizing level. Nothing much is giving me relief and I'm in almost constant pain. It's really pissing me off as summer is just around the corner and I *refuse* to be left behind while everyone else has fun. Funny how my knees and hips don't bother me as much when my spine is trying to crawl outta my back and beat itself around my head.
