Last night I started writing a screenplay adapting Shirley Jackson's last novel, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, for the big screen. Do I know how to write a screenplay? Nah. I found a copy of Joan Lindsay's novel Picnic At Hanging Rock, on which the brilliant Peter Weir movie was based, for 29 cents at a thrift store.

Going happily to bed for a tryst with a paperback. Ta ta!
