Vegas Vacation - Day 1 and 2

I tried to keep notes on each day, since we had the netbook with us, but I still feel like you won't get the whole story. But here it goes...

Oh, and the pics will be forthcoming. They are currently on Russell's computer and he has yet to post them to his Google photos.

Day 1, Saturday: Get up at about 4am to get to MIA by 6. Flight seemed longer than it should, but it went ok.
When we arrived in LV, grabbed a cab that seemed more like a tour guide, pointing out interesting sights to see, places we had to visit if only to walk through and take pictures, and how rich some people are. Very neat. Got to the hotel and realized the mistake of getting a hotel a bit off the strip. Hotel is nice, room could be better aka a fridge or coffee pot, but nice otherwise. The downside was they do not offer shuttle service anywhere and we are at least a $20-30 cab ride from the strip. So, we spent the first day futzing around the hotel/casino. We started with $10 each to play with, I went up $10, and then we tried blackjack, where I was up almost $35 but then lost it all but $1 over roulette, slot machines and again at blackjack. Apparently I am just not that good at gambling. Had dinner in the hotel buffet, a bit overpriced but really good food.

Day 2, Sunday: First thing we decided to do was find a rental car…but we also needed someone who would pick us up at our hotel. First of all, most of the rental places were closed on Sundays…the ones we were able to get a hold of worked out nicely. They took care of the cab fare, got us a free upgrade to a full sized car (2010 Nissan Altima) and all before 9am  So we got back to the hotel to map out what we wanted to do and how to get there. We had tickets for Zumanity by Cirque du Soleil at 7:30 so we didn’t really want to get to far out of town. We went to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay (it was soooo humid) and I got to touch a couple of rays. For the price of admission, I was expecting a bit more. It was neat but seemed very short. Walked a bit through Mandalay and then I promptly got us lost trying to leave their parking garage. It was amusing and annoying at the same time. Went to the Nascar Café to ride Speed the Ride, which was so fast and fun and we were the only ones on it. Went back to our hotel to putz around some more before heading to the New York, New York for dinner at Nine Fine Irishmen and then go to Zumanity afterward. Food was great, show was AWESOME! Different from the other Cirque shows, this one was geared to the adults’ only crowd. Very erotic, sensual with amazing acrobatics. Also, hilarious.
