Title: Enjoy the Ride

Summary: With Castiel busy back in Heaven, his vessel is left vacant. Jimmy can't go home and he can't go unprotected, not when Castiel will need him again. Watching Jimmy is the perfect way for Gabriel to earn enough trust to get back into Heaven, but it's not going to be easy: Jimmy really wants to go home. To succeed, Gabriel's going to have to get creative. It's lucky he has centuries of being the Trickster under his belt.

Let's get right to it! SO BEFORE I START EXPLAINING THE WHATS-ITS. The reason I chose this story? Jimmy. I hardly see Jimmy fics, and even then Jimmy is a little ...off. And it's no secret I'm a huge fan of shipping everyone/everyone, so when I saw there was a Jimmy/Gabriel big bang up for grabs, that story was mine. And then I read it and I love her Jimmy. Everything seemed in character to me, and I spent a long time just rolling around in glee that I was so lucky to get this fic!
So basically, blah blah I love Jimmy, blah blah I loved this story, and here's what I drew. It's only one piece, but I tried to make it count. :3 This was another piece where the rough draft was pretty awful, so I started from scratch again and it worked out pretty well!
This basically goes in chronological order - Jimmy and Priest Gabriel at the top, Jimmy and Gabriel doing their candy shop thing in the middle, and at the bottom when Jimmy and Gabriel fall asleep together (with Gabriel's wings all over the place).
The scene at the very top is taken from the very end of that portion, where Jimmy starts remembering his life as a vessel, the whole war between Heaven and Hell, and Gabriel gets ready to wipe his memories and go into another scenario. On the whole, I probably had the most problems with this picture, which is OBVIOUS. It could definitely use some more work, but the fingers kept coming out really weird and the more I messed with it, the weirder everything looked, so I went ahead and stopped myself. I decided not to draw Jimmy's eyes in detail because I thought it was more effective than trying to give him crazy eyes or something like that, and I do like the effect. Gabriel is somber and off to the side, no longer able to play his part of a inappropriate yet good-natured priest.
The second one is from what is probably my favorite portion of the story, the candy shop Jimmy and Gabriel open together. I went through MULTIPLE sketches of their little outfits, but in the end, for the sake of this compilation, I went with simple shirts and vests. I always imagined them a little younger in this scenario, and I can't imagine what kind of nonsense Gabriel would get into in his very own candy shop, and Jimmy would probably have to tell him repeatedly that they are running a business, Gabriel.
The last one actually came out a lot better than I expected! When Jimmy and Gabriel are sleeping and Gabriel has his wings draped over them was an image I really loved. I can't imagine Gabriel spooning with anyone anyway, so he's just laying on top of Jimmy, who has an arm curled around him. I liked having this at the bottom, because it makes it seem as if the two scenarios above it are dreams, which is kind of how it all works out? Again, it could probably use some touching up, but I think my favorite part is the wings, because you know, me and wings, we're best friends. :D (I didn't want to color the wings the same as I did for the last fic, so I made them a light blueish color; besides, in the fic they are more a feeling than a actual physical thing, so I didn't want to make them too fancy because that wasn't the point of them.)
Seriously, please go read the fic! It's AMAZING and I was so happy to be able to have it for this big bang. And, not gonna lie, it's not every day you get a great Jimmy fic. :D // SWEETHEART, THANK YOU FOR BEING SO GREAT. I know we were both super busy, but we pulled it off! And thank you so much for writing one of my favorite background characters!
