Alistair-the-vet phoned this morning. Though Xolo's blood readings had dropped, they were still well above normal, and showed no signs of falling further. It's tentatively good news. She looks a lot better, one of the two key indicators in her bloods is way down, the other has reduced. Neither are back to normal, but, hey, it's good. She has eaten, even if only chicken and wet kidney-friendly food ( Read more... )

Though it's getting colder, the weather is still sunny and dry. (The icon is more in hope than anticipation.) There is a huge crop of acorns, horse chestnuts, wild apples, haws, rosehips and rowanberries, and there will be photographs in a while. It's been a while since I posted, one way and another. Yesterday, for instance, was spent putting the car in for its annual service - plus aircon service, as they were doing an offer - and MOT (which it passed, thank goodness) and just scraping into the warranty period for the broken electric wing-mirrors control. Though not necessarily connected. I thought you might like this photo of Xolo in her Elizabethan collar, taken this morning. Madame has learned over the last few weeks to tolerate the collar, and even to crawl under the duvet in it, but it does make it difficult for her to scratch her ears, and humans have to be involved.

After taking Quillan in to the vet hospital this morning, to have this horrible sore lump removed from his mouth (and to hear the great news that Scott thinks Xolo may be able to come home on Monday!) we took Draco down to Roding Meadows which is only a half mile or so from the vets' place.

And there was spring! Catkins in the newly-laid hedge.

Scott-the-vet phoned this pm for permission to go ahead with the operation to try to close up the skin on Xolo's belly, the dead skin having sloughed off under attention of a four-hour change of dressing. She is apparently well in herself. Hope to see her tomorrow when we take Quill in.
