Haven't wrote about whats been going on for a while...
Last weekend was Afro-Caribbean National Day which means the people from there organised activities, food and put on a big show. In the morning, I went to learn how to dance afro-caribbean style. Chauntez (Bahamas) taught me how move dance hall style which basically means bending your knees and moving your hips a lot. Later that day, they fed us african food which was mighty good.
In the evening, there was a formal dinner. We had to take dates and so I went with Chen from Israel. Best date ever. He had two ties, denim shorts, hiking boots. Plus he gave me a dandelion that he picked me off the side of the path. We had the best time. We were sitting across from Tilman (Germany) and Michael (Egypt). Tilman just got so frustrated trying to teach Michael some semblance of table manners. He didnt succeed.
The show was incredible. They sang, and danced and acted and its kind of hard to describe without you seeing it for yourself. Sitraka (Madagascar) was voted coolest guy ever (by me anyway). I have never seen anyway who can move their ars in the way that he does. He well and truly stole the show (in everyones opinion).
Later there was a party in the common room and it won as the best party here yet due to the fact that all the Africans refused to play techno. Heard an African remix of Shout and had a discussion with Swelen how the 50's Johnny O Keefe hit was a big party favourite in Venezuela about three years ago. I laughed. She got slightly embarrassed then made a Steve Irwin comment.
If you guys want pictures of the event then just email me and I can work that out.
Love always, Lauren
