2008 Ficathon Pinch-hit

Late like woah, and I'm so sorry for that-technically it was done in time for the 30th deadline, but it wasn't really, there were all sorts of problems with the end that were resolved when I wrote a half a page more during Chem.  Hm.  I should have known meeting one deadline was pushing it, meeting two just wasn't going to happen.  Hope you all ( Read more... )

Kinda creepy but I really enjoyed it. You have a really absorbing writing style and having the first part from Gene's point of view and second from Sam's worked really well. The characterizations were great too, and I loved Ray's words at the beginning.

Strangely enough, I wasn't really going for creepy this time around... not quite sure what I was going for, but creepy's always good, so I'll run with it. :D ( ... )

I'm confused about the '2 years later, in 1973' line--did I miss a spot of time travel?

But otherwise, this was a very engaging read. Nothing like some major angst to end a night, and as, jean_geanie said, kinda creepy. LOL

Good job!

Two years later for Sam, when he finds himself in 1973.

Ah! Aren't you the clever one? ;)

P.S. Martha's awesome.

When she made that gesture in Torchwood season 2, it DEMANDED that caption.

That was great, and a good use of the crazy, mixed-up timeline between Sam and Gene.

The crazy mixed up timeline is quite possibly the best part of Life on Mars. How could I dare leave it alone?

(And I've been joking about the Gene skulking around the hardware since almost the beginning, so there was no way I wasn't writing this fic, really.)

He so would, if he believed.

And he would so believe, if only to have one over on Annie.

I don't think it was creepy, oddly enough -- I enjoyed how you built up Gene's desperation and played it off of Sam's innocence. That might be considered creepy I suppose but I thought it was more tragic than anything.

And now Sam has The Date, I wonder if the time line will go wobbling off in a different direction now.

I really love the final lines, though, they are a perfect tie up to everything that went before and Before.

Intriguing story, and well done! Thank you!

Yeah, I never really intended for it to be creepy. Tragic is probably a better description, I think ( ... )
