pattern goodness

After meeting Steve for dinner after work last night, I started trying to draft a pattern for a waistcoat based on one of my victorian bodices. The back turned out okay, but the front is pretty awful. I think part of the problem is that I was hoping to have something that I could wear both corseted and non-, and just cinch it in a little in the back using the vest buckle, but there's just way too much difference between my corseted and non-corseted shape. I'll try messing with it again tonight with my corset on, and see if I can't get it to work.

Also, since I had my patternmaking stuff out anyway, I threw together a pattern for a simple camisole/corset cover. I'm debating whether or not I have time to do some lace insertions on the front. I'm leaning toward yes, just because it's a small project with lots of hand sewing, so I could pretty easily bring it to work and do some hand-stitching during my lunch breaks.
