Even though I know that Costume College is looming on the horizon, I'm really glad I decided to take a few days off from sewing and scale back my plans a bit. In fact, I'm officially giving myself permission not to sew on weeknights in favor of paying attention to Steve and taking care of the apartment.
That basically leaves me two weekends in which to finish whatever I want to finish for Costume College, but I'm okay with that. There's plenty of stuff I'd like to make, but really, I'll just work with what time I have, and whatever I get finished is what I'll wear. In order of diminishing importance, my projects are as follows: a belt for my edwardian blouse/skirt, a petticoat for my elliptical hoop, a new waistcoat, a steampunk apron, and a new edwardian corset.
In two weekends, I can pretty definitely finish the belt and one other project, maybe two. Really, the belt is the only thing that I *need*, and which will actually show. The rest of the projects would just be nice, and I already have fabric for all of them, so i could actually throw them together pretty easily and at no additional cost.
Since it seems to be the thing to do, here's what I think I'm going to wear to Costume College:
Friday: Edwardian blouse and skirt
Saturday: Either my viking tunic/apron dress, or a new steampunk-y getup, if by some miracle I finish it in time. (I'm in the dye class on this day, so I don't want to wear anything that I'd worry about getting dye on.)
Hallway Gala: My red/black elliptical hoop ballgown
Sunday: Green/Grey/Purple Bustle outfit. Isn't there an underwear breakfast or something happening? I think it'd be fun to show off my bustle undies in the morning...
