This weekend's progress was, I think, quite good.
I spent Thursday and Friday nights patterning, Saturday cutting, and Sunday assembling. As of last night at around 8:30pm when Steve arrived (I've resolved not to do any sewing while Steve's here, at least until my next major deadline, which I'm anticipating will be Dickens Fest), I had accomplished the following:
-Belt: needs eyelets and about 8" of hand sewing
-Hoop petticoat: finished, except ruffle
-Edwardian/Steampunk waistcoat: finished, except buttons, buttonholes, 4-6 eyelets (I'm having it lace in the back in lieu of a vest buckle), and ~14" of hand sewing
-Corset cover: cut out, pin lace insertions in place (I'll be working on this during my lunch hours this week)
-Steampunk apron: the body and skirt have been assembled, but it still needs straps, pockets, edge finishing, etc.
-New edwardian corset: cut out
All in all, I'm pretty pleased, although I keep finding more little touch-ups and things that need to get done. AND, wonder of wonders, I even found time to meet up with
mundungus42 and company for a fabulous dinner at C&O Trattoria, complete with sing-along of "That's Amore!" I'm totally gushing here, but
mundungus42 and her husband are some of the coolest people on the face of the planet, and I always feel all warm and fuzzy inside after hanging out with them. It's so refreshing to spend time with people with such a wonderful combination of intelligence, exuberance, and creativity. I was also reminded that I really need to get Libby into a room with
barriequark at some point in the not-too-distant future. They just have too many little quirks and interests in common *not* to get along.
If I can somehow make time stand still in between now and Costume College, I will accomplish the following:
-Belt: make eyelets, hand-stitch openings
-Waistcoat: buy buttons (after work tomorrow?), attach buttons, buttonholes, hand-stitching on inside seam, and make eyelets
-Hoop petticoat: make ruffle (optional)
-Apron: buy D-rings, overall clips, etc., cut out and attach straps, cut out and attach pockets, cut out and attach even more straps
-Black 1860s skirt: 2 more strips of black velvet trim
-Black 1890s/1900s skirt: add another panel to back (time permitting), adjust pleats/waistband
-Corset cover: finish lace insertions, assemble
-New edwardian corset: buy busk after work on Thursday, assemble next weekend, time permitting
-mend grey bustle skirt, take to dry cleaner's?
-alter trousers/find other pair of jeans to wear with steampunk getup
