Blessed Yule and Happy Solstice

Dec 21, 2010 19:55

The Wheel turns and the Year turns and the sky in majesty shines over all.

I had 'partly cloudy' but was able to see enough of the lunar eclipse to be amazed and all that cool stuff all over again. Celestial mechanics is Just So Cool.

Seasonal count:
Eggnog - 3 batches

Fic-exchange stories (Yuletide and HLH_Shortcuts): 1 Main for each, 2 Pinch-hits, 1 Treat (and that might be more than one story for each, she says, being mysterious while the guessing for HLH is still going on)

Yuletide Treats in process: 2 well along, 4 more solid possibles. We'll see how many actually get finished by final upload deadline.

Decorations: I have the materials and am right now in the process of making a Blue Star of my very own, 5 wooden yardsticks, 5 screws with sleeves, 2 strings of blue ceramic lights (though I think I'm only going to need one, with the second for spare bulbs), electrical tape and picture wire. Pictures when finished.

I have cards from
jamie,
elayna, Ed and Asa,
devilc, sneezer222 and
minoanmiss. Thank you all so much!

I am making a chicken-apple crock-pot thing that
morgynleri told me about: Chicken (medium package of tenderloins) 3 sweet apples (fuji), 3 tart apples (granny smith), 3 pears (anjou), medium piece of ginger, some cinnamon, some nutmeg, some applecider and water as necessary. Cut the fruit into 2-bite sized chunks, the ginger into reasonable pieces. Put all in crockpot & cook on low for 9 - 10 hours. Let chill & gel. Freezes well. Good over rice or barley or anything of that ilk.

I may have put in too much liquid, but oh well. It smells nice & I'm sure it will taste good, even if it does end up soupy.
