A cheesey title, I know; however, at the moment I'm listening to the MSU v. Memphis basketball game -- disappointing in that State is ten points behind and it's only the first quarter, which makes me want to nervously bite on my thumbnail for the next 90 minutes.
ANYway, aside from sports, here is a small update on my life:
Exiting Portfolio
I'll pretty much be working on this ALL weekend. It's due this Thursday, but between assignments that I need to submit for my own class, a class observation on Monday, and getting ready for NYC, I really, really, REALLY need to get this puppy done by Tuesday afternoon. Mini goals for the weekend: 1) finish book review and lesson one with rationale by Saturday morning, 2) finish lesson plan 2 by Saturday evening, 3) read Language Socialization articles by Saturday night, 4) complete Monday's lesson plan by Sunday at 3PM, 5) finish lesson 2 rationale by Sunday evening. Fuuuuuuudddge.
Job Interviews
I interviewed with the State Department/Georgetown University earlier this month, but it's pretty much a waiting game now. The time window until they're able to confirm? April-June. Ugh. On a more positive note, this morning I had a positive interview with the English Language Institute director of Lithuania Christian College International University in Klaipeda, Lithuania. She'll now send my information to the college's vice president and give me some details via e-mail sometime next week, with confirmations by the end of the month. Woo-hoo.
Graduation
I graduate in nearly a month. Note to self: order cap, gown, and hood sometime this week. I have a meeting with a loan counselor this Monday to verify that I understand how to pay back the money I've borrowed for living expenses over the past two years. Exciting.
Travel
Next week I'll head to New York City for the TESOL national conference. With my heart set on Lithuania, it's going to be tough to seriously interact with job recruiters.
San Francisco -- in five weeks, I'll be there. Still haven't confirmed travel arrangements in that I'm still waiting for confirmation information about my sister's and brother-in-law's graduation.
Kansas City, MO -- waiting for confirmation
Dublin, Ireland -- I'll be there in nearly seven weeks. Yeah! I've found a pretty decent and new hostel in the city proper. It's a little pricey, but may be worth the suburb commute headache.
Burgenland, Austria -- Nearly seven weeks, yet must confirm with Diana about visiting.
Trieste, Italy -- Beginning of June. Checked out a few hostels online, but nothing more than that.
Bloomsday -- See Dublin plans above.
Well, I better get back to churning out this book review. Now that Lucas is back in the game, hopefully State's offense will pick up. Go Green! Go White! Go State!
