Earlier today I watched Alejandro Amenábar's Agora which has Hypatia of Alexandria, the 4th-century mathematician and philosopher, as its central character. It was an intelligent, thought-provoking movie - beautifully written, shot and acted. I simply loved it.

Instead of a boring rant on religion and the patriarchy, you will get a picspam. ;)

I doubt the creators of Spartacus: Blood and Sand could have come up with a sillier name for their show, but when I look at all the promo pics that have been released, I really don't care all that much.

I have barely been online during the past two weeks due to school work, job hunting and whatnot. I've read far too many novels this week - from Djuna Barnes to Christa Wolf to Henry James to Toni Morrison etc. I'm also seriously considering doing post-graduate studies. Over an hour ago I gave up on trying to finish a chapter which I was supposed to send to my thesis advisor today.
