Doesn't that "got involved" here have a certain Bonnie & Clyde feeling to it? Well, Shinpachi actually becomes something close to a mixture between a scolding wife and a distressed mother to Gintoki. I love it when the poor boy puts food in tupperware at parties and contests and other public events...
rowein (¡Mil gracias!) told me of the existence of a certain Gintama OAV which turned out to be a kinf of Gintama pilot episode from the Jump Festa 2005, with a bizarre battle Gintama-style under the cherry blossoms. This is a good introduction as any to the series. The difference with episode 1, which is also a kind of pilot episode, is that the introductions here are briefer (to most of the characters' diasappointment) and the plot is more festive and... couply (pacific stalker- violent stalkee, vice-filled young men and sado-pair). Also, a couple of scenes were later taken for future episodes of the anime itself, like when Shinpachi and Gintoki met and Catherine coming up to ask for the neverpaid rent.
