CD 3 of doom: Love (?) Grows. After harrassing poor Squall to save/pay attention/care for Rinoa ALL THROUGH the battle of the Gardens, his friends now chastise him for being so caught up worrying about Rinoa that he is ignoring his duties as Balamb Garden's commander. He's not! I feel so outraged on Squall's behalf... Stupid script... And I already want to go back to CD 1 again, as usual. ::facepalm:: I shall endure it if only because I want to buy the missing Karateka magazines in Esthar and learn new Zell techniques. Also, I want to go to the REAL MOON and compare the space sequence with 2001, A Space Odissey. The rescue scene in space suits is just the same, I am sure of it. Add to that the later plot of time-compression aka messing up with time, and you get Kubrick revisited.
Valencia
It has multiple meanings, but here it refers to a city in Spain, famous for its oranges but particularly...
Its main festival, the Fallas (Falles in Valencian), has a reputation throughout Spain, while the world famous Spanish dish paella originated around Valencia.
The city contains a dense monumental heritage, including the Lonja de la Seda (World Heritage Site since 1996), but its landmark is undoubtedly the City of Arts and Sciences an avant-garde and futuristic museum complex. [...] [Including] L'Oceanogràfic, the biggest aquarium in Europe, with a variety of ocean beings from different environments.
Apparently, this expression originated in the old times when the city had protective walls around it, and people got so caught up in their own businesses that they would return to the city when the walls had already been closed for the night, so they had to wait outside until the morrow, watching the moon or sitting on a half-moon-shaped seat. Now it's applied to people who forget some task or duty because they are distracted by other thoughts.
No sé si conocíais la expresión y si la usáis tal cual, pero a mí me parece que el traductor aquí mezcló dos expresiones. Según la RAE:
Estar en la Luna.
1. loc. verb. Estar fuera de la realidad, no darse cuenta de lo que está ocurriendo.
2. loc. verb. coloq. Estar distraído, no enterarse de lo que se está tratando.
Estar a la luna de Valencia
1. loc. adv. coloq. Frustradas las esperanzas de lo que se deseaba o pretendía. Dejar, quedarse a la luna de Valencia.
Una explicación más extensa sobre esta última la he encontrado aquí : "El dicho "estar a la luna de Valencia" que se aplica a quienes por estar despistados olvidan otros quehaceres, tiene su origen en la Valencia amurallada. Se quedaban a la "luna de Valencia" los que, por despiste llegaban después del cierre de las murallas tenían que dormir fuera de ellas ... contemplando la luna."
Pero otra explicación que dan es que:
"No se quedaban mirando la luna, se decía así porque el asiento en que esperaban tenía forma de media luna y allí dormían hasta el otro día que abrían las puertas de la ciudad."
