I think I'm going to give up on saying "I'm going to try to write more often" because I'm not fooling anyone, at this point.
Work is good. The head of the department has asked me to be her special projects person - she does a lot of non-standard Pension Admin stuff, and she needs a helper. This helper is now me. She thinks I have the right skill-set for what she needs, so "is it okay?". Um, yeah. Am I supposed to say no, if it wasn't? We're moving buildings in less than a month, and my new desk will be pretty much right beside her office. I'm going to end up feeling watched, especially since my manager is sitting in the same row as me. Sheesh. But yeah, this is good stuff, overall. Any work I do for her will be non-client billable, which means it'll hurt my billable hours goal (and therefore my year-end bonus potential), but I've been told to keep track of the time I spend working for her, so that my hours can be offset. This is also a good thing.
I stayed home from work today due to the mega-storm that hit southern Ontario overnight. I haven't been feeling great over the last few days either, so I took the opportunity to recharge. When all was said and done, the snow reached a little below my knee in some places. Not too shabby. Glad I stayed home.
Home is good. We're giving our front foyer a makeover this weekend, which means painting, and installing a closet organizer. We're in love with closet organizers, I will admit it.
Johnathan is good. He recently decided to make a
change in careers, and has taken a job with
Mozilla, to be their Usability and Security guy on Firefox. I believe his chosen title is "Human Shield", but I'm not sure that he has completely decided yet. Among other things, this is excellent because we get to commute downtown together now, and his office is right around the corner from me. He starts this Friday.
For Valentine's Day, Johnathan has given me a trip to Europe. *grin* Okay, so we were planning to go anyway, but kind of in a more noncommittal way. My sister gave us a 4-night or 7-night stay at a hotel of our choice for Christmas - the 4-night is through her
Starwood points (hooray for a sister who travels so much for work!), the 7-night is through her
RCI time share thing. So, using that to pay for our accommodations, and using J's $200 coupon from Air Canada to help with flight costs (hooray for a crappy cancelled flight from Leeds), we're going to take a trip. Probably in May (which will coincide with our anniversary quite nicely), but other than that, I'm not sure where we're going. Apparently this is my choice, and of course I'll get J's opinion on where he wants to go...this will be fun :).
