Rosefox is having a party in her journal. You can see the post for explanation and disucssion about parties and hosting. I don't know who to invite and I'm not sure I quite want to try to do something like that in my journal. But I'm going to do something mildly similar. I'm going to encourage people who might be interested in meeting new interesting people to browse through some of this. I've picked a handful of friends with some public posts with interesting topics and comments and provided links. Feel free to check them out. You can also comment here. You can generally comment here about anything. You can also toss in other links if you want people to check them out.

On a side note, I didn't tell anyone I was doing this, so they might be a little startled. But they all seem like people who can handle random commenters. And the posts are public. The descriptions given are brief. And I'm only picking one entry per person, so it's not a representative sample of what the person is like. It just seemed interesting. If you really want to meet new people, I recommend commenting about things that interest you and see if anyone else comments back. Anyhow, informal social experiments like this don't need to be run past ethics boards, so, here goes:

Ms_Danson's post about INTJ relationship and communication style. (INTJ is part of the Meyers Briggs personality system that I discuss now and then)

Siderea's post on how to make friends (for INTPs) (see note above)

Bitterlight's post on why nice guys who are actually nice get rejected

Eirias's post on how best to oppose other people's free speech without denying them their free speech nor giving them more power through your opposition

Conuly's entry musing about things Harry Potterish, starting with does the wizarding world have a Deaf community?

Livredor's post on equating health and virtue.

Rho's post about people's tendency to comment more on posts that contain polls (it's better than my summary makes it sound).

Sithjawa's post on an Eliza for programmers.

Hmmm, finding these takes a really, really long time. So, I'm calling that enough. I tried to pick people from different social groups and focus more on people that were less likely to already be known to people I know. Now to post and see if doing this proves to be interesting or not.
