Pombo loses to McNerny

This is local, so most of you don't care, but it's a really good victory.

This article explains some of it, but I think it lies. Pombo didn't lose solely because people don't like the Republicans right now. I think many of the voters voted against Pombo because we want Pombo out. I didn't... I'm one district over, and thus didn't get to vote on the issue (I voted for Peter Stark who won, and I am quite, quite pleased to have been able to vote for him and to keep having him - he voted against torture and did other good things). Pombo, on the other hand, didn't vote against torture; he voted for it. Pombo also pretty muvch voted against every environmental issue he could. And he's generally viewed as, and likely to be, corrupt and in the pockets of special interests.

So, yes, people are upset with the Republicans. People are also upset with him specifically. And I'm really glad that race went to McNerny.

Now, if only we didn't have Schwarzenegger for another term. And to see how Virginia turns out. And some of the propositions went badly. :/ And way too many states voted to ban gay marriage. I'm not pleased. Although San Francisco and Berkeley both voted to impeach Bush and Cheney.

I didn't get everything I'd like. Some important things were lost that I think will be very bad things. But we did have a lot of victories. Still trying to see how it all shakes out.
